I enjoyed last night show very much ... the ending was a bit rough for me and not a great transition at all ... Very much an early Star Trek feel that made me happy.

The last couple of episodes have really toned down MacFarlane's terrible sense of humor they have been pretty enjoyable.

As a late convert to this, I'm still watching the first series (just finished episode 7), and I'm kind of torn between "kinda like it" and "when does it get good?". At some points, it's sorta Star Trek:TOS - The Continued Journeys With Less Iconic Characters at others it's Idiocracy In Space, and I'm not convinced it actually works

In the old days Paramount would be suing Fox in court because Orville is just Star Trek lite without any of the stronger aspects.

In fairness, ST:TOS was often utter crap IMHO (and I speak as a huuuge Star Trek fan), but the characters were so well-realised that they transcended the material and became iconic. Here, they've largely kept the crappy bits but also have crew of doofuses, and while Star Trek: Everyman is kind of a high concept, I'm not sure it actually anything other than a fast food version of ST/SF.
I'd watch Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues in a heartbeat, but this feels pretty thin stuff in comparison. Against which, it is at least a minimal investment compared to the Netflix Marvel series, or Discovery, as you can dip in and out without having to make a 13-hour committment.

it was a good episode, tho a little worrisome in that one character didn't really give "consent". . but overall, we enjoyed the episode.

I thought the end of S1 was getting a bit better, and S2e1 was OK, but I still find it incredibly predictable, and some of the acting is pretty weak as well

Caught up to date - last few episodes have been much better, the stupid humour failures have been reduced and the departure of the Alara character, who was a really poor actor hasn't hurt either

I missed the last two shows due to vacation and I was watching a movie on TCM ... called A Letter to 3 Wives instead. I haven't seen that movie in years and wanted too. Excellent Movie.
I'm glad the show is getting better and planning on watching it next week.

The latest episode was very serious. Probably the most Star Trek like so far this season. I liked the anger from the new security chief at the end. I also liked that the crew couldn't "fix" the problem like Kirk used to do on TOS of ST.
My only minor complaint. Yet another episode with the focus on Bortus.

First 2 parter. Another episode that was serious and more Star Trek like in feel. This one has the Orville going to Isaac's home world.

I've missed two shows in the row ... because of commitments and need to get back into the swing of things and I hope the show is getting better.

the two parter was fantastic, tho they really didn't know how to end it satisfactory to keep the status quo intact. . . so we got a silly response from the Union to allow something that NEVER would be allowed in any episodic drama. (won't give spoilers, since the 2nd part just finished).
but . . yeah. . . NO. . they wouldn't do that.
part 2 was WAY more "Star Wars" than "Star Trek". . but holy amazeballs.. that space battle was really well done
