First discovered Slaine in Heavy Metal, when they printed the first volume of The Horned God. Luckily, one of the local shops had a very good cross section of graphic novels and had some Titan collections, including the early Slaine stories. He morphed a bit between the early days and when Simon Bisley got his hands on him, and not just visually.
With the often satirical tone, I'd say he had more in common with Fritz Leiber than Robert E Howard.

also not familiar with the character at all. . . and at 1st glance he seems to be a version of Conan the Barbarian crossed with Kull. found some absolutely GORGEOUS Simon Bisley art, but all is too recent (circa 2013) to be an entry. so will go with this one, even tho I find the colors a bit garish. . but I *love* his "gun"

How did they manage to get both the hero and the artist's names wrong?
