In terms of pure, stupid humor I think it's Scurvy Dogs. It's a black and white comic from Ait/PlanetLar about pirates. Who do the obvious things like fight future space vikings but also go on dates, form boy bands, have job interviews.. "So it says here your home address is... 15 paces from Hangman's Tree, Due North, and your maritial status is... "To the Sea." How nice for you." "The cow says TRUE" "Arrr... Those Funyuns were to be me lunch." "4 doubloons? The oldest Portugese leper trick in the book!" *later* "How much did we make?" "Four Doublooms, Captain." "Did I say Portugese? I meant... um... Greek." "That's the other half." "Now you can't always fit an entire emu in the microwave..." That wasn't a mermaid, it was my pet manatee (Scroll down a ways) Ok, but I promise the three people who have read this are rolling on the floor right now. I'm sold and seeking this out right away.

Archie Comics, especially the older ones usually make me laugh. One of the funniest stories I ever read was one from the 40s involving a mannequin that Miss Grundy mistakes for either Betty or Veronica. The entire story is one big misinterpretation after another and it is quite hilarious.

Oh, yeah, MAD. Cover-to-cover flat-out hilarious. But you know what was really funny? (Art by Johnny Romita, of all people)

But you put me in mind of two of the greatest satirical works ever: the Lampoon's high school yearbook parody (actual cover probably NSFW) and the sequel, the Sunday newspaper parody.

Newspaper, The Far Side, hands down.
Comic books, probably the early MAD.
Lloyd Llewellyn should get a mention as well.

The Goon gave me a lot of laughs. Nextwave, early Deadpool, and Zombo also spring to mind.

I really don't know, but I do remember reading a Donald Duck comic with Huey, Dewey, and Louie where Donald goes over Niagara Falls. Also, some Giffen/DeMatties JL, Ambush Bug, and Legion of Subs stuff was really funny, too. I reember a digest size Dennis the Menace comic that I had back in the early 80's that I used to read once a year. Unfortunaley I no longer have it.

I'd definitely go with Justice League International from the late 80s early 90s, and the two miniseries from the mid-2000s called "Superbuddies" and "I Can't Believe it's Not the Justice League."

My favorite story ever written by Len Wein was played for laughs... when Luke Cage tried to upgrade his professional image by coming up with a "heroic name". "Super...? Nope. Been used before."
"The Ace of Spades? Nah-- too ETHNIC."
"The Avenging.....??"Later, during the final confrontation with that issue's baddie... "YOU! But I thought you were DEAD!!!" "Just chalk it up to BLACK POWER, man!"
(Luke thinks...) "Black power man? POWER man? Yeah! That's IT! POWER Man... that's..."(and THAT's when the bad guy CLOBBERED HIM.)

Hooray! It really is hot sophisticated intellectual bon mots and the art is amateur hour, but I think it's just the funniest thing. (Everybody of us who wrote for Comics SHould Be Good in the mid-to-late 2000s loved it, so I'm not completely alone.)

My father had, and possibly still has, that yearbook parody, and I remember reading it so many times when I was in middle school and high school. At that point, I wasn't getting every joke, but so much of it resonated with me. Next time I'm over there, I'm going to take a look for it and see if it's still sitting around their house. Thanks for bringing back a great memory.

Probably an issue of Ambush Bug, but I can't think of one standing out from the others at the moment. I'm tempted to look up an issue of Herbie just for a single panel, where some character (perhaps Herbie himself) gets blasted to the moon or another planet and there's some kind of welcome sign, or you-are-here type sign, and it reads "Elevation: Plenty, Jack". The whole issue was great, but that panel is one of the most memorable in my comics-reading life. Herbie's a good one. As a huge Ambush Bug fan, I think the most belly-laughs-per-page issue wasn't an Ambush Bug comic, but DC Comics Presents # 81, where Ambush Bug and Superman switch bodies. Superman (in AB's body) trying to use his teleportation powers:

I'm not sure I could pick a "funniest ever", but a fair few of The Adventures Of Tintin books make me chuckle in places, and MAD magazine is always highly amusing. The Herbie comics from the early '60s often elicit a chuckle from me too.
