If we're including newspaper strips, I have to mention one Popeye strip in particular.
Popeye is explaining to his father that he can't go around talking the way that he does. "Youse can't be sayings 'I is going to the store, Pappy! Ya's gots ta be grammatical! Youse hafta say 'I yam going to the store!" "Yam? What's yam mean?" "You know -- I yam gonna to do this, I yam gonna do dat" "'Yams' not a word?" "Sure it is!" "Is it in the dictionary?" "Well, it's gotsta be!" (They look it up) "'Yam - noun. a sweet potato'. My gorsh! Youse means ta say I've been sayin' 'I sweet potato what I sweet potato and that's all that I sweet potato' all these years?!?"

A couple of particular newspaper strips (out of thousands) that remains in my mind...
TUMBLEWEEDS: "Ham" & "Beans", the mule skinners, come to town. "Beans" is short, scraggy, abbrasive & loud-mouthed. "Ham" is tall, heavy, and dumb as dirt.
Explaining why they've come to town, Beans says... "He REFUSES to spend Christmas on the prairie." Ham explains... "Sandy Claws'd never be able to FIND me out there!"
The next day, Ham excitedly shows off what he bought in town. "Looky, Beans! Ah got a gumdrops, some lickerish, and a whole GOB of penny candy!" "Ah pay the clown a BUCK a week an' he blows it on a pile o' JUNK! Don't you realize, that buck coulda bought you a WHOLE GALLON o' WINE??"
I've always liked westerns... (I can sort of picture Beans with the voice of Strother Martin.)

I was 11 when this came out, and I still find it hilarious. I need to re-read Bloom County as an adult. I came to Bloom County as an adult in Scotland a LONG time after it was first published. I don't understand 90% of the political references and barely 50% of the pop culture ones and often only then in an abstract way. For instance I know someone called Vana White was some sort of game show host and supposedly very attractive to a large proportion of the male population - but I couldn't pick her out in an identity parade.
Despite not knowing any of that stuff A lot of Bloom County is still very funny.

Lots of funny to be found within Incredible Hercules.

Lots of funny to be found within Incredible Hercules. Is that the Bob Layton Marvel series? (Who all has released a "Hercules" comic? I can think of Marvel, DC, and Dell off the top of my head. There are probably more.)

There are probably more.) That was good for laughs as well! But I was thinking of Incredible Hercules where Herc took over the Hulk title for awhile around 2008 with issue 112 to 141 from 2208 to 2010 Written by Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente. Herc and Amadeus Cho were running around as buddies doing their thing with lots of jokes and puns and such mixed in with the heavier stories. A particular story-line comes to mind when Herc impersonates Thor and even the sound effects are part of the joke.

Agree on Layton's Hercules. Also, not exactly a comic, bit...

World's Finest Comics 150
Batman wants to make sure that a casino on international waters is on the up and up. One of the novelties of the casino is a giant roulette wheel with a giant ball. To ensure that the game isn't rigged, Batman doesn't inspect the mechanism of the machine, the ball itself, or watch the game being played from a distance, but instead climbs into the ball and lets himself be thrown around the wheel as the game is played. Imagine having a repairman take a look at your washing machine or dishwasher by climbing inside the machine, closing the door, and shouting "OK! Start 'er up!" from inside. This is what it's like!
