It was worth waiting in the long line to do my comic duty.

Sounds like a good idea to me, only you probably don't get beer with it, or maybe you do.

Sounds like a good idea to me, only you probably don't get beer with it, or maybe you do. Not usually. Any place selling alcohol needs a liquor licence (a temporary one in the case of pop-up events) and its usually not worth the effort of getting one for a sausage sizzle. You can buy soft drinks, though.

Some of these awards are still VERY close races where a single vote could decide it. Be sure to get yours in!

Number of days remaining: 3 Number of members who have voted thus far: 27 Number of categories that currently have ties: 2 Number of categories where the winner is ahead by only one vote: 3
Your vote matters. If you haven't chimed in yet, what are you waiting for?

Yep, it'd be great to get 100% turnout for this vote!

Yep, it'd be great to get 100% turnout for this vote! While having all 799 registered members turn out is admittedly unlikely, we do have over 150 regular members who check in at least weekly. It would be GREAT to have at least a third of that number participate.

Only one tie remaining at this point, but several categories could still be decided by two or three votes!

It would be GREAT to have at least a third of that number participate. Boy does this make me wonder about the forum. 799 people have registered, less than a quarter of that are regular members and another less than a quarter are voting/participating. I can understand the just checking in and reading posts as I did that for a few months before registering. I am a total supporter of life versus posting since I only post when using a computer at work. Why aren't more folks willing for voting? What is the disconnect for being a steady continuing contributor to the forum in discussions? This place is the most welcoming, friendly and entertaining site on the internet so why the hesitancy? This reminds me of our staff at work: there are mandatory meetings and education but staff avoid doing this like the plague and wait until "forced" to doing so,even when it is an expectation required to working here and they can be fired for NOT doing them. Here on the CCF it is all voluntary and by choice to sign up and participate yet many remain silent? Curioser and curiouser as Alice says...

It is very curious. Indeed!
Before I was a self-employed cabbie, I worked in clerical roles. I was a member of a trade union. Occasionally (not every day), we were balloted over strike action, e.g. to protect pension rights. Yet the number of returned ballot papers was very low. This meant that even if those of us who supported a strike just about won the vote, our employer could claim the strike action was semi-illegitimate due to the low turnout. Yet to vote, you simply returned your ballot paper in a *pre-paid* envelope!
Some asked that we migrate to an online vote system, but I said something like, "If people can't be bothered to tick a box now, put the ballot in a PRE-PAID envelope - and mail it when they pass a postbox, then what makes you think they'll make the effort to register online, log on and vote that way?"
This is just an observation, so apologies for the grumpiness. It's just whether we're talking politics, trade union ballots or an online poll, it'd be GREAT to see a bigger vote share!

It would be best to have more nominations in each category and a larger group voting to deliver a more fun and exciting win. Alas it remains a small turnout, but every nomination and win should be considered as a great consideration/achievement for us all.
