You can't force anyone to participate. I wonder why there Isn't more traffic, Maybe because the mods here don't allow anyone to come here and start trouble ?

Never ever want to force anyone into doing anything. But it reminds me of jury duty as well where it is our right and privilege to participate in our governmental system and yet so many don't or won't or try to avoid or get out of it. I think in being a part of something special (like the CCF) it would mean that you want to and like to join in with the festivities and celebrations.

Well, voting has been available since Saturday, so the people logging in must not be interested in the event.

A lot of people wait until the last minute. Others feel unqualified to judge. I'm excited to have as many people as we do participate. More would be great, but I won't knock what we've got -- a very tight community with over 30 members active and passionate enough to participate, and nearly a hundred more who stop in regularly even without going "whole-hog". I'd rather have them mostly involved than not at all

If yes... is it the same 30 members voting each year?

35 members in 2015 31 members in 2016 30 members in 2017 31 members in 2018 31 members so far this year. I don't have the ability to see who votes.

Nah, I just voted from 27 different ISP addresses, so it's just 4 other people who voted. Oddly I submitted 27 different ballots combinations just to mess with people's heads... -M

I see the voting issue in two ways.
First, these awards are sort of insider, especially the ones where members are chosen for particular attributes. That's OK, as many of us have been together since before the cataclysm, but for newer members or those who are only semi-regular participants, this may seem a little insular.
On the other hand, I think it speaks volumes about the great community that has formed here that we are able to do something like this year after year, and it's because many of us do know eachother so well.
It's a double-edged sword, but I would rather see it continue with 5% of the total members participating than end it because only 5% of the membership is participating. We have a good thing here with the CCF, the Jamie Awards are a tradition, and tradition is good for family, which I consider this to be in a way.

Totally agreed, The Captain. And I don't think anyone is suggesting ending the tradition. While I'd love to have more participation, the Jamies have run smoothly and happily for five years now with participation more or less exactly where it's always been. And I don't think it's the same members each year. Year after year, we gain some amazing new members to this family, and (sad, but a reality for any community) year after year, we see a few beloved family members drop off the grid. But, five years in, the overall whole is sustained. I can name at least a half dozen people I truly miss seeing around here, and I can name at least a half dozen folks we've gained since who make this community just as special, but in totally different ways. We are a small but important family that holds steady, neither especially on the rise nor in any kind of decline, and the Jamies are a testament to that.

Yeah, quality over quantity.
I'm not religious, but a neighbour of mine worships at an evangelical church. She told me she likes going, but is frustrated because the pastor often mentions the low numbers in his sermons (or finds a way to reference it). She told me that there's never more than 10 people attending - often a lot less - but if religion/Christianity is important to those people, then maybe the pastor should appreciate those he has rather than concerning himself with arbitrary numbers.
Not saying anyone here is wrong, including myself, I guess we're just pleasantly and diplomatically sharing our views on the vote here.
Bit different to what we are discussing, of course, but just making a point about numbers. It does feel close-knit here.
