In the clearly inadequate poll (I keed, I keed) I voted for Captain Carrot and Captain Nemo because I enjoy them and I know they'll need some love.
I also voted for CCF's own "The Captain" because even though we don't always see eye-to-eye, he's always polite and well-mannered and clearly cares about people. So basically my exact opposite.

I love the old Steve Ditko Captain Atom and the even older C.C. Beck Captain Marvel, so those I had to support, and for third I thought Captain Caveman deserved at least one vote. Mel Blanc I presume?

Captain Kirk was a no-brainer for me. I cast my second vote for Captain America. I had a tougher time choosing my third Cap. I thought about Shazam, Picard, and Mar-vell, but ultimately went with Monica Rambeau. I really liked her during Roger Stern's Avengers run, though I think she fell off the face of the earth after he left, and I wanted to do something a little different with my third vote.

Since I can't vote for Captains Comet, Marvel ("Split!") and Midnight, it's
Atom, Boomerang, and Marvel for me.
I'm basing my choices on which Captains have been featured in stories I liked the most.
I really liked DC's long-running Captain Atom series in the 80's. I loved Boomerang's scene-stealing as a member of the Suicide Squad, and I've been fascinated with Billy Batson's alter ego since I first read about him in the early 70's.
I honestly can't think of many stories of these other Captains that I enjoyed more. I did like the original Mar-Vell run, up until Thomas & Kane took over, but not *as* much as my choices. I like some Captain America, but I never got the enthusiasm for the character, and found his stories mostly lackluster. I enjoy some Trek, but no strong attachment to any of the Captains there.

yes yes yes there is a looooooooong list of Captain's. I tried to include the more obvious options. I totally forgot to add an OTHERS choice. I never meant to cast a shadow on those not listed, their were simply missed in trying to compile the list. Sorry if your choice is not among the crowd of many....

I voted Captain Haddock, Captain Nemo and our very own The Captain. Edit: I'd've discarded our Captain in a heartbeat though, if Captain Chaos (Dom Deluise) had been an option. Sorry, Captain. |
