[ font size="3"]Just came across some Valarian and Lauraline books. Can somebody tell me in what issues or parts did Lauraline find out she was originally a unicorn? She was actually not, thank the stars! (I was also under that impression before reading the story, due to something Laureline mentioned at one point). In the early episode Bad Dreams, the future villain Xombul travels to the Middle Ages, where Valerian must pursue him. There, Valerian meets Laureline, a native of that time period. During the adventure, Laureline is briefly transmogrified into a unicorn, but gets better by the story's end, Laureline goes back to the future with Valerian.

In one Valerian and Laureline book, a glossary of the universe our protagonists reside, Laureline mentions she was originally a unicorn. Can you elaborate a bit further? Or maybe there was a mistake? Or maybe I misunderstood

But of course!
In the episode Bad Dreams, Valerian follows Xombul to the 11 century. There, he is rescued from an unfortunate position by a young forest girl, Laureline.
The pair make their way to a wizard's castle, but are captured by Xombul, who has started learning magic. He's been busy transforming the local citizens into assorted monsters and, taunting Valerian, tries to do the same with Laureline. Unfortunately, his magics don't work as expected on a pure soul, and the girl is turned into a beautiful unicorn instead.
Laureline and Valerian manage to escape, and after they eventually defeat Xombul, the would-be sorcerer is forced to reverse his spell on the whole population.
Laureline says that it wasn't so bad being a unicorn for a while, and since these animals can read thoughts, she now knows that Valerian comes from the future. Valerian agrees to take her with him when he goes back.
A mention of Laureline once being a unicorn is therefore correct (I don't remember the precise wording of that glossary), but it was a temporary thing. And my willing suspension of disbelief is grateful for it!

Never read these books 😮 Is the binding as bad as reviews suggest on the English language hardcovers? I have some of the 3-books-in-one English hardcover collections and the binding is fine. No issues with it at all.
