Huge fan of Frank Oz and Jim Henson growing up and was delighted to see this coming back. It came out today and I'm just starting to watch it now. The art production is incredible loving it.

As much as I love the Henson mythos, The Dark Crystal I found super boring. Yet I feel obligated to give this a chance, so I will.

Watched it, loved it. A bit better than the film, IMO.

My wife and I watched the first episode.. fantastic to look at, but pretty boring plot wise... she is a huge fan of the movie, and fell asleep half way through. I may give it another shot at some point, but not right away.

I may give it another shot at some point, but not right away. The first few episodes contain a lot of exposition but the characters really make it worth it as it goes on, I'm on episode 6 now and I'm loving how rich the world of Thra feels.

I could only make it through ten minutes of the first episode. The puppets looked good for 1984 but woefully non-expressive compared to 2019 CGI.

I'm kinda interested in this from a nostalgic viewpoint, but it'll a long while before I see it as I don't have Netflix. As a kid, I found the original to be technically impressive with the puppets, but a really, really boring movie. So, I'm not a big fan or anything. I am mildly interested to see if this new series is any good though.

So, I'm not a big fan or anything. I felt the same about Labyrinth, but don't tell that to the droves of fans lol. Both had a lot of atmosphere going for them though and Age Of Resistance expounds upon the lore tenfold. And more Aughra is always appreciated

LOVE the original Dark Crystal and always have, but it's a completed story by the close. I'm intrigued by the ensuing comics and now this Netflix series, but I plan to avoid them unless someone can convince me they add to the franchise meaningfully rather than just continue it.

It certainly adds a lot of fascinating depth to the world of Thra, and by the end I really loved the new characters but with the way the first season ended I'm a little confused how it leads to the events from the film. I mean, we all know that Jen and Kira are the last of the Gelfling in the film, so you have to expect the cast of this show are dead and gone by then but the season strangely ends on a high note with no immediate Gelfling holocaust in sight. I'd definitely say it's worth watching though, the creature effects are stunning and the story is definitely compelling.

I'm kinda interested in this from a nostalgic viewpoint Same here, almost every sentiment. I was there to see the film when it was released, and considering that era of filmmaking, it felt like Henson was trying to "get in" on the George Lucas bandwagon (ironic, when one considers Frank Oz performed Yoda) with that type of fantasy. Granted, Lucas did not create this genre, but his films put a very different face on it, which is what I think films such as The Dark Crystal and Krull (1983) tried to capture...only they didn't. That said, I just have a curiosity about the new series, but I'm not particularly thrilled that the concept is back.

Never send a Skeksis to do a Garthim's job.

LOVE the original Dark Crystal and always have, but it's a completed story by the close. Same and while I agree, I think that the story was maybe a little too simple for anyone older than say the age of 8 to fully enjoy. Which is fine, but Age Of Resistance adds to it in spades. It's in no way the same story overall, just with slightly similar characters. I'd definitely say it's worth watching though, the creature effects are stunning and the story is definitely compelling The computer generated tongues are off-putting, but that's my only real gripe with the show
