Batman* is just a guy in a costume. I'd replace him with Hawkman.
*I do love Batman, though.

It is a very difficult choice to make here and I know in my heart that Martian Manhunter is not everybody favorite Superhero and all that and I would had replace him with Captain Marvel, the Big Red Cheese because he would work well with Superman and Wonder Woman and give this group a more balance powers with Strength and Speed. I always felt that Captain Marvel is somewhat been unjustly not been given a fair shake in DC Comics and not even in a group dynamics for a very long time and that's bothers me a lot and some of you would be shaking your heads a team with a triple threat of Wonder Woman, Superman, and now CAPTAIN MARVEL would be totally unstoppable and that alone would not be fair to all evildoers to try to shutdown and destroy the Justice League of America. It is not an easy decision for me to do this and I have a tremendous respect for Martian (Jonn Jonzz) Manhunter and all that.

This is like the opposite of the FF question for me because I dislike almost all of them, but of all these annoying characters Superman is the most annoying, so that's how I voted.

dump Martian Manhunter (why? he's boring, and some of his powers are duplicated by Superman & Wonder Woman).
replace with: Plastic Man (why? he's NOT boring, and his abilities are quite useful).
if not restricted to a male to replace a male? I'd swap him out for Zatanna.

I think I would choose Martian Manhunter; his Silver Age version really did not bring much to the team other than editors giving him somewhere to occupy his time. If he had to be replaced, perhaps Hawkman, as he's such a throwback concept (the winged man part), and a contrast to the usual bodysuit and/or cape set.

Aquaman--reasons are pretty obvious. Replace with the Atom--powers are pretty flexible, and he's easy to get around.

Yeah, Martian Manhunter. He's an outer space detective? What stories can you do with him that you can't with Superman or Batman? Also I don't think that his current persona "Mildly depressed introvert" meshes very well in a team book.
I freakin' love the Silver Age Martian Manhunter though! He's great on his own.
So replace him with Rex the Wonder Dog.

Let's get rid of superman. Way overpowered. if he's there, you don't need the rest of the team.
I'd replace him with Dart from Atari Force. Because the team needs more women.

I'd replace him with Dart from Atari Force. Because the team needs more women. And everybody needs more Dart.

In the real world timeline, DC didn't have a lot of replacement options when the JLA debuted in 1960: Rip Hunter, for example, wouldn't fit in unless every JLA adventure involved time travel. They might have done another Golden Age hero revival, but they were clearly focused on currently running features. If they were to think of reviving some of the most (somewhat) recently-discontinued characters, Captain Comet, Robotman and Johnny Quick might have seemed possibilities, but Johnny Quick wouldn't have been chosen given the Flash's notable success on the stands. No one at DC, supposedly, realized that they had the rights to Plastic Man, and Blackhawk would have seemed too wedded to his own team to be a option. That pretty much leaves Supergirl, Green Arrow, Robotman, Robin, and Captain Comet as the only feasible substitutes, and I think most of them have obvious slots: Supergirl replacing Superman, Green Arrow replacing Batman, and Robin replacing Snapper Carr. Captain Comet could replace Martian Manhunter, making up for some of the Manhunter's physical strength and matching him for telepathy. Robotman doesn't have as clear a spot in the lineup, but he'd be a lot easier to utilize in a typical story than Aquaman was, so I think that would be the most likely swap-out. From those choices, Captain Comet for J'onn J'onzz seems the most appealing switch. It would at least spare readers the overuse of "Martian breath", which was apparently the only way Gardner Fox could think of to distinguish J'onn's power set from Superman's.

Because the team needs more women. ...but that's point of writing better villains who are either stronger than Superman, or so clever/intelligent that Kryptonian powers cannot adequately solve the problem...in comes the abilities of other team members. That said, Superman is an essential to the JLA, so I would look elsewhere before even dreaming of cutting him from the team.

Let Aquaman have his rule in Atlantis and the oceans needs keep him too busy for JLA membership and his replacement be the one, the only man of elements: METAMORPHO. His shape shifting elemental powers mixed with his Indiana Jones/treasure hunter/man of thrills and adventures background would add some much needed fun and humor to the team.

So replace him with Rex the Wonder Dog. Sure, but who's going to clean up after him?
A couple unmentioned options appear here:
