As much as I have enjoyed Arrow, the Flash is now my favorite current show. I am loving every episode.

Flash, Izombie and Agents of SHIELD are my favourite comic/super hero shows currently airing (Walking Dead and Constantine being on break), and they're all on on the same day! It almost makes up for my work week starting Tuesday...

Episode 22 "Rogue Air" Glad they are finally dealing with the villains they have locked up. Ferris Air reference. Loved that Snart called Barry the Scarlet Speedster. It sounded like the Foreigner song "Cold As Ice" was playing in the bar during that scene which made me laugh. Nice reference to a Ferris Air test pilot disappearing. Great performance from Wentworth Miller during the double-cross scene. Good set up for the Rogue's team later. Nice having Ollie and Firestorm show up and I loved seeing the Reverse Flash costume come out of the ring like in the comics. Firestorm looks great in action I just wish he did more than throw fire. Ollie lives to be 86. Looking forward to the finale next week.

Episode 23 "Fast Enough" Without a metahuman of the week to stop they spent way too much time in this episode just talking. I did like the foreshadowing to Cisco becoming Vibe. Barry unmasking in front of Nora was actually pretty touching and I was surprised by his choice not to save her. Great seeing Jay Garrick's helmet show up and I wonder if he'll be from the past or from Earth 2. Was not expecting Eddie to shoot himself to stop Reverse Flash. I will miss Tom Cavanagh as his performances this season have been fantastic. I thought the CGI at the end looked great. Awesome cliff hanger and I'm really looking forward to season 2!

With all precincts now in, I can now officially declare The Flash to be the best live action ANYTHING DC Comics has done since the 1989 Batman movie.

I say this - it is a very good 1st season and I was hoping for a better 2nd season and I was impressed by action, drama, and excitement that goes with it week in and week out. I give this show an overall grade of B with some room of improvement that I need some time to think about it.

I thought the moment where Barry chose to not save his mother was rather poorly executed. After all the back and forth with all the other characters about what he should do, most of whom seem to think he should save his mom, he goes back into the past and all it takes is a nod and a wave from his future self to change his mind? It happened so quickly, without any further explanation, that it just felt like an abrupt change of course. Granted, I figured that he would choose to not save her since that would likely cause him to never become the Flash, but I just thought it would be handled in a way that made more sense.

If my future self told me not to do something, I'd listen...

If my future self told me not to do something, I'd listen... My complaint had more to do with how the actual scene played out, not the "advice" itself. As in, it literally happened so fast, with a just a quick look and a gesture that I was genuinely confused as to what happened. Considering the stakes and what a huge decision it was, I felt like it deserved more exposition.

The problem is that we're stuck in a Terminator style causality loop. First time through Barry's lives with his parents both alive and happy (possibly until his disappearance) Barry and Iris grow up, become a couple and get married A Normal lightning Storm turns Police Scientist Barry Allen into The FlashHarrison Wells and his wife build S.T.A.R. Labs and the particle accelerator. Eobard Thawne aka the Professor (a criminal from the far future) Finds Barry's costume devises a way to gain his powers and becomes a frequent opponent of the FlashThawne learns Barry's real name and decides to kill Barry as a child. Barry saves his younger self and returns to his own time. Thawne Kills Barry's Mom and suddenly finds himself cut off from the Speed-Force Thawne tracks down Harrison Wells and his wife kills them and assumes Wells' Identity Barry's father is convicted of Nora's murder Barry grows up with iris in the same house and they never become a couple Thawne/Wells designs the Particle Accelerator to fail The First Season plays out Now if Barry had gone ahead and saved his mom and found a way to permanently remove Eobard he might have just sent the loop into another circuit. (as long as there's always an Eddie Thawne there will always be an Eobard.) Eddie shooting himself logically should have wiped out the series timeline and basically reset it the one I just outlined (which would have white-washed everything we've seen and we'd be reset to Barry as an adult with Girlfriend/fiance/wife Iris) Eddie of course would have been restored to life and in the new timeline he'd have no memory of anything that occured. Although it might be funny to see Eddie in the station wince and put his hand to his chest complaining of a touch of heartburn. Eventually we'll still get everything we ended up with in the series because Eddie will find a girl... (the dancer?) His family line will eventually produce Eobard who will become Barry's enemy and so we go back to Barry's Mom's murder.

I generally find that it's best not to think too hard about stories involving time travel because they all break down at one point or another.
The only real way to maintain any kind of internal consistency with time travel stories would be to abide by the model that any time travel sends you to a different point in time in an alternate dimension, thereby preventing any issues with causality. But in doing that, you remove all of the dramatic effect of using time travel in the first place, since typically the purpose of time travel usually involves some form of changing the past to create a different present, or having knowledge of the future to make different choices in the present, thereby creating a different future. So most time travel stories are assuming a single timeline/dimension by the very fact that they try to change the past, but they have to disregard anything that would cause their story to never happen. In effect, writers flip-flop between the characters existing in a single timeline or multiple timelines at different points in the story to suit their storytelling needs.

This assumes Reverse Flash actually changed the past...given that the future Flash knew where his past self was, what he was planning and that he shouldn't do it, and that the newspaper headline that once changed when something in the present changed has otherwise had the same West-Allen byline all this time after Barry and Iris started living together, it may be a predestination thing.

Well I've read that for Season Two they are going to introduce the "Earth 2" Universe. My guess is Barry is going to travel there because of the black hole thingy at the end of Season One.

But I imagine all of our season one cast members will be there, with a different story.
I wonder if Jay Garrick might be included?
