Although I was tempted to do an 'Improbable Vehicles II' round, I have instead decided to honour my homeland by making this week's theme:
Land Down Under
Post a cover that is set in, or otherwise evocative of, Australia.
The rules of the game:
- Post one classic cover that fits the theme of the contest.
- Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before October 2009.
- Covers must be posted before voting begins.
- Voting takes place on Tuesday, October 15, beginning at 12:01am PST and ending at 11:59 pm PST.
- Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most.
- Put your choice's name in bold.
- The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends.
- The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest.
- If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it; please don't post disparaging remarks about it.
- If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point it out so that the poster can choose an alternate before voting begins
- Two posters may not share one cover.
- Void where prohibited.
- Post No Bills
- This contest does not cover Acts of Dog.

I don't know any comic books in Australia and I'm not participating this contest at all ... nor vote.

So, foxley, how about a cover that isn't necessarily set in, or otherwise evocative of, Australia, but was published in Australia and features a hero that, as far as I know, was exclusively Australian?

What better evokes "Australia" than a drunken, passed out Captain Boomerang? Sorry, foxley, best I could do with this topic. I really thought that Wally West, the former Kid Flash, had encountered beloved super-villain Digger Harkness a lot more often than he did! {Spoiler}{Spoiler}And with that, I'm down to five covers (probably) to go in my secret personal cover contest challenge! S'okay. I'm impressed you managed to find a cover to fit. Well, a softball topic would have been really helpful in this little project of mine (foxley's the only forum member--so far as I know!--who has caught on to my secret criterion), but it's more fulfilling when I can meet a real challenge like this one!

I mean, its what I think about when I think of Australia. Can't imagine having to battle these things when they are in a fit of rage...
