Hm, looking over these comments concerning whether a character had his/her own feature, I have to ask: that excludes Dum Dum Dugan, doesn't it? Not necessarily. Teams may be ineligible but their individual members are allowed, even if they've never had their own solo series. In such cases, the team title *is* the feature, So Dum Dum, as a member of the Howling Commandos, would qualify. Hm. Excellent. Thank you (again).

Yet another thorny B&B issue arises! At first I didn't get your reasoning here, but I assume you mean that since all four of those villains are normally associated with Batman, they wouldn't be eligible (Catwoman would fall in the same category, right? She was the co-star in one issue of B&B). I'd bet that Kurt would allow those, though, under the reasoning that, while associated with Batman, they are not associated in the context of being a partner. Hero-villain team-ups are eligible IF the villain has ever starred in their own feature.
Cei-U! I summon the fine print!
So the Joker and Man-Bat... ...obviously qualify, but would these two? As for Catwoman, her Batman team-up would probably be out of contention, because that was specifically the Earth-2 Catwoman, who never had her own feature, as far as I can recall. Realistically, I doubt any of us is going to propose the Riddler or Ra's Al Ghul B&B team-ups as a favorite, but I suspect people would have said the same thing about at least one of my likely entries. And if I were in Kurt's position, I'd rule out Riddler and Ra's despite these two examples where they got the star's logo position--they are both Batman stories, really. But I do get a kick out of B&B continuing to confound.

I'll be gone on vacation starting this Friday and be gone the rest of the month and be back shortly after New Years Day. I won't be able to participate it.

I may be going out on a limb here, Slam, but I think that one of our entries not only will be the same comic, but I'll venture further to say that it will appear in each of our top five selections, if not higher.

So the first Joker team-up in B&B 118 is out but the last Joker team-up in 191 is ok, because it came after the Joker's solo series? Naw, that's too complicated. I really did mean "ever." Both stories are eligible.
Cei-U! I summon the broad interpretation!
That's fair. Catwoman would probably be ok - She's had her own series for most of the past 20 years, although I suspect that B&B 197 was the first appearance of the Earth-Two Catwoman (Or at least the first time she was called the Earth-Two Catwoman.) All of Marvel Team-Up should be fine. Two-In-One is a little trickier: The team-ups with the Human Torch are ok, but the Invisible Girl and Mister Fantastic are out. The Yancy Street Gang, Puppet Master, Franklin Richards and future Ben Grimm team-ups are most likely invalid. Team-ups with Alicia Masters and FF villain the Sphinx get by on the Question Mark exception. DC Comics Presents is fine except for the Phantom Zone Criminals in the very last issue. "The Secret Life of Clark Kent" strips would make Clark Kent's two Superman team-ups eligible. (Weird!)

I had about 25 possible entries , and yesterday I started to reorganize my boxes and take general inventory. I added about 20 more possible entries. It's amazing the type of team-ups comics has had over the years.

Oh geez Louise and Ethel! I can see this year is gonna provide some wild choices among the members. Gonna have to think hard and dig deep to see if I might find some true faves that will astound and entertain.

At the moment, I have 5 choices that are locked in, and a 6th that is close to being a look. The other 6 slots are in a state of flux, as I keep remembering other great crossovers. With Cei-U ruling TB&TB #198 is eligible, that tosses another favourite into the mix.

Think I've got my twelve locked down (until I change my mind, anyway). Surprisingly, not a single issue of Marvel Team-Up or Marvel Two-in-One made the cut. I also guarantee that absolutely nobody else will cite my #12 pick.

Can't wait to see what you got for us, Kurt! I'm down to about 16.... I think I have a couple of oddball ones. Hopefully no one will have a few of mine.....

Almost there, with eight definite and 4 probable, but I want to rack my brains in case there's an old favorite I'm forgetting. (I'm sure there will be.) Great topic!

Maybe it's just me, but this year's theme seems tougher than usual. I'm just not having any comics immediately jump into my mind like I usually do when a Classic Comics Christmas event is announced. I think maybe the trouble is that, as a rule of thumb, I'm not much of a team-up guy.
To quote Sherlock Holmes, working out a Top 12 team-ups is going to be a 'three-pipe problem'.
