This makes me wish even more that they had cast an actual Russian woman in the role. I guess if it's not too dependent on the other films it might be enjoyable. Was that Rocket Red?

I've not been overly excited by this character in the MCU but after David Harbour unexpectedly popped up in the trailer, my interest in this film suddenly grew. Cautiously optimistic.

Harbour will either make or break this film. That is my prediciton. If they nail Red Guardian and make him this overweight, goofy superhero who puts the mask back on and it clicks, it will be a big win. If it seems lame and the humour falls flat, this film bombs.

Wondering how well Taskmaster will come off in this one? As a master assassin/trainer/mercenary he would make for an excellent character/presence to weave in/out of the more ground level heroes movies/shows. Crossbones and Batroc also should make some return appearances as recurring villains. Add in a deadly or even as a joke but deadly Trapster and Stiltman even to keep things interesting and I would be happy.

Or at least a good actor, of any nationality, who could play a Russian super-spy rather than someone who sounds and behaves like a typical all-American girl from Anyplace, USA.
But I'll give Johannson this much: at least she looks the part, physically, unlike in the Wonder Woman movie. She has that kind of compact, gymnast's physique that looks like it could do the crazy things these characters are supposed to do.
The trailer looked so-so, to me. A bit cliché-ridden - for example, I think I've seen enough of that landing on one knee with a fist to the ground pose. But I don't expect much from these things in the way of originality. I'm pretty sure I'll see it and enjoy it on the level of mindless entertainment.

No, I think she's too much the slender model-type. Attractive, no doubt, but doesn't convey the impression of strength and power you'd expect from a superheroine. I don't think they should cast a body-builder, mind you - probably some of those cross-fit champions would be the more appropriate body-type.

I thought Gadot was perfect in the role; she has a presence and physicality that sold how dangerous Wonder Woman is compared to ordinary humans. That's just the opposite of "ScarJo" as Black Widow, as she never had an athletic body one would expect from the character, and in fact, she's more bottom-heavy and cannot really run (see The Avengers' New York scenes or The Winter Soldier), and its always been painfully obvious when her stunt double was doing all of the work.

Gadot looks like a Greek goddess! I thought she was perfect for the role. Johansson was not the person I would have cast as Black Widow, but she really owned the role and now I can't imagine anyone else doing it. (Same for Evans as Cap, really).

From what I understand (which isn't a lot, I'm pretty much continually in a state of confusion), Johannson is substantially shorter than I would imagine the Black Widow comics character to be, but I think they cover it up pretty well with camera work and so on. Truth to tell, she grates on my nerves whenever she speaks, but I find her visually fine for the part. Possibly I'm just mesmerised by her "bottom-heavy" rear end, the star of the show in most of these Avengers movies as far as I'm concerned, excuse the objectification. Or maybe it's the stunt double's, for all I know.
All kidding aside, a well-developed rear is not at all unathletic in explosive, fast-twitch muscle, power sports, male or female: look at Olympic sprinters or American football players, for example. "Women's" gymnastics is sometimes misleading because they aren't really women, they're often just kids - a serious problem, IMO, but that's another topic.
Actually, in Johansson's defence as an actress, I did think she was really good in the Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar - so it isn't that I think she's a talentless hack. I think she's like most American actors: they can only really play convincingly a narrow range of roles, almost exclusively limited to contemporary American types of one sort or another, but if the right director gets hold of them they can be good or even great.

I had very little interest in this movie before the trailer... I want them to move the story forward, not tell a lost tale... but the trailer was pretty awesome, so maybe.
