Oh, and to add to the spirits talk, most blended scotches are horrid. Single malts are truly a beautiful thing as has been noted. And Adam, take a word of advice from someone whose family was in the beverage business for many years : Spirits, no question, you get what you pay for. There are exceptions, of course, but a good rule of thumb is this : Buy top shelf. That's the good stuff. Smooth, refined, won't rip your head apart nearly as bad as the rot gut on the bottom shelf. As you can guess, the closer to the top shelf the better the quality and vice versa. That could be it, I haven't had a good scotch. Now someone bought me a shot of Patron before and I still didn't like tequila. : -) But I rarely drink liquor much anymore. Mostly wine and beer now.

Speaking of hot beverages cold, when I was a kid we didn't quite get the concept of "iced tea". We heard about it and decided to try to make it. We made tea the way we'd usually had it, hot water, tea bag, cream & sugar. Then we put ice cubes in it and drank it. It was then we realized we were probably doing something wrong... By the way, been meaning to ask, your signature line seems familiar. Is that from Disney's Robin Hood movie? It was a favorite of my daughter's when she was young. That's so adorable!! And I hope it was meant for a laugh, because I laughed. I've done things along the same lines with various ideas and concepts! And yes! The song near the opening! I adore Robin Hood! I debated quoting Robin Hood or Lion King, both are childhood favorites. That's really cool that you remembered it. I recite it often in various ways and most people just look at me like I'm nuts. Most things I do are meant for a laugh, so if I gave you one, my work is done here. As I mentioned, Robin Hood was my daughter's favorite for a long time when she was little. She would say she was Maid Marion, I was Robin Hood, and her mom was the chicken lady-in-waiting. Obviously my wife wasn't real happy about that.

I can imagine her not being real happy, but Lady Kluck is a great chicken lady in waiting!

Including, I trust, the irrational banana hatred. The...irrational banana hatred...? I made the mistake some time ago of mentioning the fact that I can't stand bananas. Ever since Dan and I have gone back and forth. He makes some banana related comment that I'm sure he feels is amusing, and I respond by trying to educate him to the evils of the vile yellow pretend-fruit (it's actually an herb). Others have gotten involved and it's become a "thing". But I persevere and try to warn the world, a lone voice in the wilderness....

With my hatred for mayonnaise I feel like a supporter of Mr Sinclair, as I have nothing against banana, I understand that there is vile foods out there that are nothing but pure evil. But people keep slapping that horrendous white goo on every sandwich just assuming that you just love that rancid stuff.
Dan of course likes to bring up the fact that I mentioned liking Taco Bell. If there is one thing Dan excels at is he is very consistent.

I enjoy both mayo & Miracle Whip, but I'm secure enough that I don't condemn those who don't like them. Unlike others hereabouts. but back to coffee... This has been a public service announcement from Bananas for Evil LLC... -M Fixed it for you.

Long story as to why. But I like this. And people never believe me about that! Bananas being herbs! Like tomatoes are fruits! But I'll try not to mention bananas. Lol

When I was younger, my mom would tell me one thing is the same thing as another just so I'd eat it. (I.e. Collards and spinach is the same thing....like no. Spinach = yes. collards = no.) and mayo and miracle whip was one, too.

My mother always bought Miracle Whip, and still does - but refers to it as "mayonnaise". So I was probably about 20 when I discovered that they are different, and that some people have a strong preference. My wife, for example, won't touch Miracle Whip. She says she was taught as a child that Jews like her family eat mayonnaise and Miracle Whip is for goyim (non-Jews). I like both just fine.
Also spinach and collards. They're not the same but both are good. I like the Trader Joe's "Southern Greens" blend of spinach, collards, turnip and mustard greens.

I'm fine with either mayo or Miracle Whip. We never had either when I was a kid; anything to do with salad dressing made my mother violently ill.
As for greens, I think I've mentioned before that I've never had a problem with spinach but wanted nothing to do with any other form of greens when I was a kid. That has changed; I like them all these days.
