I ADORE green beans and potatoes. I could eat that stuff by itself. This, as the kids say. I know of few things better than fresh green beans & new potatoes.

I do fingerling or small potatoes, preferably Yukon golds, roast them with some kosher salt, then smother them in sautéed sweet onions and butter and cook them a little longer. It's like a shark feeding frenzy when they're put on the table.

Yukon golds are yellow-ish because they're kin to bananas.

I made the mistake some time ago of mentioning the fact that I can't stand bananas. Ever since Dan and I have gone back and forth. He makes some banana related comment that I'm sure he feels is amusing, and I respond by trying to educate him to the evils of the vile yellow pretend-fruit (it's actually an herb). Others have gotten involved and it's become a "thing". But I persevere and try to warn the world, a lone voice in the wilderness.... Oh no! I love bananas. Not as muh anymore, though. Long story as to why. But I like this. And people never believe me about that! Bananas being herbs! Like tomatoes are fruits! But I'll try not to mention bananas. Lol Don't worry about it, it's kind of a part of the board by now. But don't worry, I don't think any less of you for enjoying the repulsive, slimy things.

Yukon golds are yellow-ish because they're kin to bananas. Clearly that is untrue, as Yukon golds are delicious as opposed to the demon-herb, which only sadly deluded souls think are edible, much less delicious. Back on topic: Had my morning mocha. Delicious as well.

I despise every aspect of them. I don't like the taste, the smell, the texture, when the peels turn nasty black & slimy, etc. The only redeeming value they have is the use of their peels in classic comedy.

As I've mentioned before (probaby back on CBR rather than here), Sabra, near-psychotic loathing for bananas is actually a thing, as I discovered via Google a year or so ago after it came up on Baseball Think Factory.

A scientific study of the slipperiness of banana peels recently won an Ig Nobel Prize - www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29253796Closer to on-topic, I'm about to go get another cup of tea - probably Bigelow's Earl Grey; that's my usual noontime tea.

I kind of resent the "near-psychotic" comment. It's probably much more accurate to just say "psychotic". Shaxper (or other mods), it might be appropriate to re-title this thread to reflect the massive thread drift. Might I suggest "The coffee thread and near-psychotic loathing of bananas"?
