For those of us who don't abominate any sort of foodstuff, it all seems near-psychotic, I guess, whether we're talking food, bananas, seafood (which my mother hated), salad dressing in general (ditto, as mentioned above), mayo, etc. etc. etc.
I mean, I don't like bleu cheese dressing & would never seek it out, but I've had it on salad (usually after mistaking it for ranch) & as an ingredient in an exceptionally good shrimp dish; it didn't drive me any more nuts that I already admittedly am.

Well if your crazy is admittedly, then it obviously because you don't celebrate blue cheese as the superior salad dressing to all others.
I also hate mushrooms like I do mayonnaise. But then I am afraid greys will abduct me in my sleep, so yeah I am not completely rational either with my phobias.

Hi all. I just stopped by, thinking this was a new thread. Is someone advocating dunking bananas in their coffee. It seems like a match made in heaven. I might try it soon

If you hate bananas, you hate America... Sorry, despite your desecration of the flag by thrusting a symbol of evil upon it, America is not a banana republic.

The only use I have had for bananas is the milk shakes my mother use to make when we were young. The occasional time I want to reminisce with that taste I buy bananas, and that usually only one or two for that specific purpose.

Mushrooms, yeah. That's another common food phobia.
People are strange, not that anyone needed to be told that.

Well I guess they're like actual blue cheese or cottage cheese, in essence spoiled milk/cheese. Yet I like them both. But ground fungus ... ewwww.
Lots of seafood are to a lot of people. I like anchovies, sardines, shellfish (mussels, clams, oysters, scallops), squid (cooked), sushi, and sashimi. But I can't stomach seaweed so I can't eat all kinds of sushi. But there are western versions that have little to no seaweed keeping the presentation together.
Concerning bananas, I don't eat them but I do like banna flavored taffy and Popsicles.

Bananas and peanut butter are an irresistible combination to me - so much so that I try not to have any peanut butter on hand when I buy bananas because I know I'll probably gorge myself on them.

Oh good! I'm glad you won't! So, now I'm just curious, why don't you like bananas? Besides them being slimy, I think. Is it the taste, texture, etc? It's actually one of the few things I'm consistent about. I despise every aspect of them. I don't like the taste, the smell, the texture, when the peels turn nasty black & slimy, etc. The only redeeming value they have is the use of their peels in classic comedy. That makes sense! Seriously, it does! I don't like the texture. Black and slimy bananas are just...no. I have to use them when I make banana bread, though. I HATE IT. But, it makes the bread taste better and it mixes well. Sorry, I'm a baker! I've never...smelled a banana...I'm not trying to be rude sounding, I'm literally having an epiphany, I've smelled fake banana stuff, but never a real one. I should fix this. But, yes! I agree, I always laughed at people slipping on the peels. And, ven tried it myself. Let me tell you, it works GREAT on hardwood! Too great.

As I've mentioned before (probaby back on CBR rather than here), Sabra, near-psychotic loathing for bananas is actually a thing, as I discovered via Google a year or so ago after it came up on Baseball Think Factory. It is? I must look into this. Going to Google it! I know nowadays, lots of things people once might have thought of as odd, like hating bananas, is more common than they thought. Wow, that sentence was repetitive. What's CBR? I know it's gotta be a forum and you were once a member, but what's it stand for?
