I just remembered that Peter Parker did appear in Crisis but I am putting that down to merging universe wonkiness.

I can't say I noticed that previously. Cool. So the DC and Marvel heroes do live on the same Earth? I knew it!

I grew up pre-Crisis, so I'm used to every comic I read taking place on an Earth that has a number (or letter) designation!

Also, I don't have a copy to hand, but didn't Spidey show up in The Adventures of Superman #449?

Yes, in fact Spidey is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, as seen in their group photo from issue #300. How did they get past the lawyers? I cropped the picture too closely, in fact. Go look at the slightly zoomed out version above to reveal Garfield the Cat also in the scene. Further to the left with the Legion of Substitute heroes are Batman, Squiggy (from Laverne and Shirley) and a couple of other folks I don't recognize.

I'm afraid my eyes are not showing me Garfield the Cat.

I'm afraid my eyes are not showing me Garfield the Cat. To the left of Spidey (our left, his right) is Gas Girl or whatever her name is. Garfield is to the left of her.

Got it, thanks. See it now.
So, that's it, every fictional character lives on the same Earth. I like it!

I've always loved when they throw stuff like that in there...very fun. My favorites of that sort of are when Kyle Rayner knocked on Doctor Strange's door, and when 'Mr J' was a patient of Doc Sampson (or maybe he was just in the same institute, I don't recall exactly).
Clark Kent and Lois Lane make semi-regular appearances in crowds of people in the MU, too.

Clark Kent is visiting the Daily Bugle Christmas party in the marvel team-up where Mary Jane is transformed into Red Sonya.

"Can somebody get Gas Girl away from the carbon-monoxide detector please." Garfield was there because he'd heard there was lasagna for dins. And then there were the Popeye appearances in X-Men comics...

Kyle runs into Wong in Green Lantern #57: There's definitely another issue where he knocks on the door and Wong shoos him away.. it's probably in my review thread. The Hulk one is #426:
