Wolfman for me. Though Dracula is a really close tie. But nothing can beat Lon Chaney Jr's tortured portrayal. I honestly might not have seen Frankenstein or The Mummy more than a handful of times, as a youngin'. I own both Wolfman and Dracula and enjoy watching them. Shortly after watching the Underworld series with my son when he was probably 13-14 years old or so, we watched Wolfman and he liked it. He's watched it several times since on his own.

Big final of Halloween is for the Universal Monster series of movies, Which One do you watch the most often/prefer/like? Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Wolfman or Invisible Man? The ONE I enjoy most and rewatch is the movies featuring the Mummy. Having a mix of horror, comedic elements, history, mythology, action and adventure just make these that little bit more fun to watch for me. Always loved Egyptology growing up and the Mummy is a favorite. Very close second are all the Frankenstein pictures. They start off chilling and scary in every way. Even as they turn into the equivalent of Marvel Team Up for all the horror stars and becomes a bit silly there is plenty of worthwhile monster viewing to enjoy. A special shout out for the 1st Creature from the Black Lagoon. Superb monster and eerie jungle movie stand alone! What's your go to Universal joy? My favorite is Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein. Leaving that aside, I have a soft spot for The Invisible Man.

My son started watching the Universal monsters when he was around 3 yrs. old. He loved them, and would often say, "Daddy, put on one of those black & white monster movies!" His favorite of the Universal characters was The Creature. Between me and my adult friends, my son grew up around a bunch of aging monster kids, so it was a natural progression for him... comics, horror and sci-fi films, etc. he loves them all. He's 30 now and has been on his own since he was 22, and is my comic-hunting/classic horror film buddy-- we still both live in the same town.

One of my favorite literary characters and easily the one I've watched the most.

Which is my favorite? The one I last watched. But if I had to choose, I could narrow it to three-Creature, Mummy or Wolfman and then it's a crapshoot. But in the spirit of the thread and having to pick one, I'll go with the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
As much as I love the Universal Mummy and it is one of my favorites, I think I like the Hammer Mummy more though, which is my absolute favorite of the Hammer films and the only Hammer version I rank higher than its Universal counterpart.

If we're just talking about the Universal monsters, I'd say the Creature. In general, though, I think I like werewolves the most.

The 1931 Tod Browning with Bela Lugosi Dracula, although I like the Lon Jr. Wolfman too. I did get to see Creature in red/green format 3-D once and that was fun. The Mummy I'd most like to refresh my memory on, but I remember it was good.

Favorite Universal horror film is probably The Invisible Man. Favorite of the monsters though is Lon Chaney Jr. as The Wolf Man/Lawrence Talbot thought it's as Talbot that he gives such a tour de force performance.

Frankenstein. I first read Shelley's book in my early teens and have been fascinated by it, and its various interpretations, ever since. Its central theme of man creating his own destruction is probably even more relevant today than when Mary Shelley originally penned the tale.
One the Universal front, Karloff is just perfect as the monster, and it is a tribute to his skill as an actor that he is able to imbue the monster with such humanity and pathos is what is largely a silent, and plastered under inches of makeup. And in the first film, he is ably assisted by Colin Clive as one of the screen's best Dr. Frankensteins (and the 1931 Universal film is one of the few to get it right and portray Dr Frankenstein as a young medical student).
Of the later Universal Frankenstein monsters, Lon Chaney Jr. was good but lacked Karloff's physical presence; Bela Lugosi was just wrong on all levels; and Glenn Strange brought an excellent physicality to the role, but he was not the actor Karloff was. (Of course, by the time Strange took over, all subtlety had been stripped from the character, and he was just a lumbering brute.)
Of the others, Lugosi's Dracula is pure ham; more likely to induce laughter than terror. Lon Chaney Jr. does a solid workmanlike job as the Wolfman, but the character never invokes the same sympathy from me as the monster does. Claude Rains is brilliant as the insane Invisible Man, but he only played the role the once. I love Karloff's Mummy, but all the others are just pale imitations. And I don't think I've ever seen the Black Lagoon movies.

I've not seen any in ages, and have never seen The Wolfman or The Invinsible Man. I'd say The Creature from The Black Lagoon slightly over The Mummy.

I had a big science fiction childhood myself. My paternal grandmother, my father and many aunts and uncles were big into science fiction. So I grew up watching Universal, Hammer, Star Trek, Star Wars (in fact my father talked my mother 9 months pregnant with me to watch Star Wars in the theaters) Ray Harryhausen pictures, Godzilla, King Kong and host of other random and obscure science fiction. Many of them, one of my personal favorites, Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is also one of my 17 year old son's favorites too. He also really likes the original King Kong and Them! But then he likes a lot of old and new horror and has a stomach for a lot of stuff I don't.

20,000,000 Miles to Earth, is another great Harryhausen film. The Sinbad films and lots of the sword & sandal films like Clash of Titans were popular in my childhood too. As well as the Steve Reeves' Hercules films and Jason & the Argonausts.
My grandmother was big on Marc Singer so Beastmaster made it's rotation in our viewing quick often, though I am not a big fan of the film. We watched the V mini-series and I vaguely remember a TV series based on War of the Worlds, maybe sometime in the late 80's early 90's? But I don't remember much about that one.

My favorite horror creature altogether is probably the classic slow zombie, not least of all because the original Resident Evil games became prominent in my formative years, and I have some fun memories tied to that.

I would say that while Frankenstein is objectively the best of the Universal horror films, my personal favourite is Dracula. The Abbott and Costello movie is great and on my list of all-round favourite films but I think of it more as an Abbott and Costello comedy than as a Universal horror movie - although to its credit, the horror aspect works better in this comedy than it does in a lot of straight horror movies.
