More mutant merriment. Which One do prefer? Angel or Archangel?
I can appreciate the change for our rich high flying playboy Warren Worthington, but personally I felt it was to the ruin of the character. Yeah, dark grim, gritty sales. I preferred the happy flyer of the sky. It was writers who didn't know what to do or how to promote Warren that made many readers consider him as a "weak" link in the team. Nothing but flight as a power so never interesting when grounded.
I liked the visual of classic Angel with wide flowing white wings against clear blue skies. I saw his exuberance for being able to fly high above the worries of the world and being a mutant. He stopped trying to limit himself by strapping his wings down to pass as human and embraced being who he was. Yes he possessed little depth of character, passing as shallow because writers took the easier stereotype path in defining him. Neal Adam's was able to put the grace and beauty artistically for the physical appearance of our aerial wingman until Chris Claremont attempted to provide more depth to Worthington the Third. Color change of Adam's blue white design into the red and yellow/gold became the classic style and standard for many years.
Give me the golden happy go lucky flyboy!

To my knowledge I've never read a comic with Warren Worthington as Archangel. So we'll go with the original flavor by default.

While I appreciate the courage it takes to have a character change and evolve over time, even in a grim direction, I thought that in the case of Warren we lost more than we gained. The Neal Adams look coupled with the "rich and carefree playboy who learns to become responsible" persona was, as far as I'm concerned, the best version of the character.

On a purely visual level, I have to go Angel, circa New Defenders.

I've never read a story that included Archangel, and don't feel any need to. Angel was/is an interesting character.

Angel.
Only thing I recall reading with Archangel is Remender's Uncanny X-Force, which I found pretty dull.
edit: Not that I've read a lot of great Angel stories, but UXF was made out to be this amazing run, which it certainly wasn't to me.

Since I came into comics in the late 80s/early 90s, I've read far more comics with Archangel. That said, I prefer the concept and portrayals I've seen of Angel. I'm kinda done with dark and gritty for the sake of dark and gritty.

I vote Angel. Archangel must have happened after my time, as I don't remember hearing anything about it.

Which One today: Tamale's or Enchilada's? A tough choice between the cheesey sauciness or the meaty masa? Both hit the tasty spot but some tamale's (red or green chili, your choice) smothered with egg yolks dripping in to the flavoring and kicked up with a touch of salsa or hot sauce is a great warm winter treat that is perfect breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner food.

Enchiladas for me. In particular chicken enchiladas.

Archangel. I didn't care for the tortured persona and extreme look that reeked late '80s/early '90s, but I appreciated that the character was at least complicated. Warren Worthington III didn't have a complicated bone in his body until he got his wings ripped out and then became a tool of Apocalypse.
And I honestly have no idea what the difference between a tamale and an enchilada is. I love Mexican, but I'm the boring guy who always gets a burrito, beans, and rice.

Both. Honestly love both enchiladas and tamales. Choosing would be like choosing a favorite child.

I'm about to eat a tamale, coincidentally. We get tamales by the half-dozen from a nearby Mexican restaurant. Enchiladas are what we tend to order when we're eating in a Mexican restaurant. Both tamales and enchiladas are usually gluten-free.

Yeah, no way I can make a choice here: I love both tamales and enchiladas (and burritos and tacos and...). And this just reminds me that I haven't had either in years. There's no place to get Mexican food here.
