(...) Also (...) Green Lantern from Action Comics Weekly #642 I'm generally a big fan of Ditko's work, but man, he was not a good fit for the Legion. I had become a regular reader of LoSH at that point, and I recall shuddering a bit every time I picked up an issue (often with a gorgeous cover by Perez) and saw that he was doing the art inside. On the other hand, I'm really liking that sample you posted of him doing GL.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead. Regardless, Michael Turner sucks.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead. Regardless, Michael Turner sucks. I wouldn't go that far. His style was a outcome of the Image era. He was employed to do covers for DC for a time.

I don't know if the inker helped or hurt that artwork. I was never a fan of Ditko, but I think all his early stuff was inked by himself.

"Day of the Costume Change" - The New Adventures of Superboy #18, 1981 Ma Kent's color commentary on the commentator, which is colored by the commentator's colorless commentary that ignored Superboy's new colors. Was Superboy planning on fighting the Green Lantern Corps or something?

Bonus, worst Wolverine cos-player? Ugly costume, to be sure, but a great commentary: why should Wolverine wear a banana-yellow costume???

Romeo Tanghal does the one thing you should never do when drawing the Phantom Stranger:

I'm generally a big fan of Ditko's work, but man, he was not a good fit for the Legion. Not at all. There were only a couple of artists who understood the way a LSH comic should be illustrated, perfectly blending the sci-fi superhero elements with the energy of young characters. Certainly, that was not Ditko.

Here's Ditko not looking at all like he should: Yeah, it actually looks good!

Kind of like the retro-futurism look of his space suit tbh

Here's Ditko not looking at all like he should: Yeah, it actually looks good! ^ In the close-up on the right, it appears he was trying to channel or swipe from Adams' version of The Spectre. It also reminds me of Nick Cardy's take, from the cover of The Spectre #8 (February, 1969), as seen below: I guess someone informed him to use the best as inspiration...

This is Hawkeye from a comic titled Freefall. I'm not sure I would know it to be the character I knew without the purple costume though. I can identify all the Fred Hembeck versions instantly however.

Ditko DC work above is interesting. It feels like the inkers chosen overpowered Ditko pencils. Except for the GL art which I liked. I also liked his Batman.
