Here's a bonus Jaime cartoon of the above trash-talked Kitty Pryde...

These drawings just make me mad that the Hernandez bro’s didn’t do any Marvel or DC books.

Actually, Gilbert Hernandez did some kind of Wonder Woman comic and it even has Supergirl appearing in it... I don't have it, just saw original pages on auction and the splash page in color.

I just remembered that they did a Marvel tales story too.

Here's a bonus Jaime cartoon of the above trash-talked Kitty Pryde... I've seen those Supergirl images before, but not the Kitty sketch. Very nice. I love it when Jaime draws superheroes, like that cover he did for Marvel back in 2010:
Echoing Icctrombone, I would love to see him (and Gilbert for that matter) do some full Marvel and/or DC superhero stories.

Huh, we were posting at the same time; I think I've seen that WW splash page, but never the story. Also didn't know about the Marvel Tales story. I'll have to look into that.

I just noticed The Sandman in that summer fun style cover!

O.k., just looked into it; the Hernandez Marvel story is in that very issue of Strange Tales I posted above - I'd always thought he just did that cover.

Those Xaime are great--tons of personality. This Ramona Fradon drawing caused a bit of a kerfuffle when it was first shared on Facebook last week: (The mods asked that I put this image behind a spoiler for *political content*) {Spoiler} The character here kinda looks right, but everything else is wrong:

Jaime Hernandez's Marvel superheroes and Gilbert's WW are fun but if they ever take on another Marvel/DC project I'd like to see them play it straight, as opposed to the semi-humorous approach they took in the samples above. I think each of their respective styles would look fantastic in a serious, non-ironic, non-satiric superhero comic if they ever felt like doing one.
edit: didn't see it at first, but actually, the Kitty Pryde sketch is an example of what I mean by 'playing it straight', in contrast to the Strange Tales cover (and interior story, IIRC).
edit of the edit: and the Supergirl sketches on the previous page, missed those too

Worst translation of the visuals of a character from one medium to another, without dispute. Tim Burton can burn in hell forever. ONLY movie I have ever walked out of.

John Byrne’s Vision becoming white. What was that about? Never looked right.

I used to love Batman Returns. These days, I consider it only slightly better than Batman Forever, in massive part because of the Penguin. Just a needlessly vile, loathsome interpretation of the character. And I say that as someone who considers "old school" Penguin one of Batman's lamest villains.

Didn't really bother with Action Comics (New 52) after issue #1....until I got a run of issues for about 40c each...this is not my Superman, it's Toothyman.
Absolutely horrible.
