My brother read ROM and I'd read it as well. It wasn't until years later that I really, really got to like it more. Underrated Sal Buscema art and story by Bill (Micronauts) Mantlo. Rom has kind of a cult following, deservedly so. A really good, mostly self-contained series. Marvel had him interact with quite a few Marvel characters, including Torpedo, Henry Gyrich, Forge, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Captain America, Wolverine, Galactus, Sasquatch, Namor, Dr Strange, Rogue, Gremlin, Snowbird, Quasimodo, Shaman, Kitty Pryde, Vision, Storm, Ursa Major, Vanguard, Marrina, Darkstar, Moondragon, Gargoyle, Valkyrie, Seaweed Man, Sir Denis Nayland Smith, Destiny, Pyro, Avalanche, Black Jack Tarr, Nick Fury, Blob, Leiko Wu, Mole Man, Mr Fantastic, Human Torch, Tigra, Thing, Angel, Terrax, Ant-Man, War Machine, Clive Reston, Professor, Hawkeye, Mystique, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, Iceman, Beast, Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Arabian Knight, Captain Britain, Starfox, House of Shadows, Space Phantom, Jack of Hearts, Digger, Living Tribunal, Beta Ray Bill, Landslide, Devastator, Xandarian Worldmind, Awesome Android, Powerhouse, Comet, American Eagle, Dum Dum Dugan, Black Knight, Kala, Hercules, Mockingbird, Daredevil, Parnival Plunder, Thor, Hulk, Invisible Woman, Diamondhead, Mad Thinker, Adora, Nova, Thinker, Ego, Jarvis, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, J. Jonah Jameson, Captain Marvel, Cyclops, Iron Man, Protector, Tanak Valt, Luke Cage, Metal Master, Peregrine, Shamrock, Missing Link, In-Betweener, Spectrum, and the Beyonder. You probably already know, but IDW has Rom now is has integrated the character into their Revolution (Hasbro) universe. Haven't read it yet, but I will later when it goes on sale. That really looks something I would enjoy. The concept appeals to me and the art here looks like I will enjoy even if I am more of a story guy then art. Yes I read the first issue of IDW´s series and will likely buy the following issues when there is a sale. You convinced me to check it out when I get my next paycheck. Its also fitting for me since I have been looking a for a series to collect over a longer perioed and this looks like it will hit that collecter itch.

Hulk from #300 through 350 or so...worth it? Some of the Mignola and Byrne work intrigues me For me a definite yes. From Hulk's banishment from Earth by Strange (in 297 I believe) until Peter David takes over is my second favorite Hulk stories. Mignola's covers are amazing (I wished he had done some interior art) and Mantlo's writing is great too. I like that it's almost like an anthology of usually one issue stories of Hulk's adventues in space and other worlds. Towards the end of his run, a multiple issue story goes on. And as much as I like David's Hulk I wished Mantlo had more time on the book with random Hulk adventures. Even though David doesn't start till like 331 or something, I think of the grey Hulk saga starting with 325, as that starts with a new Hulk. I've reviewed 324-339 so far in my Hulk review thread.

Anyone read Crux from Crossgen by Chuck Dixion and Steve Epting? I just read three issues (20,23,24) and the concept seems pretty interesting. And I like both of their other works.
How about Sentinel from Marvel? A 12 issue mini series by McKeever, Vedder and Udon. I have half the issues and was wondering what anyone might have thought about it. If it's good I may just wait to buy the other issues and read it all together.

Has anyone read the Charlton Hercules series? I like what little bit I've seen of the art, but Charlton could be pretty mercurial with the quality of their books. I haven't read them but I'm slowly buying the back issues based on the Sam Glanzman artwork alone.

^Sal Buscema inked by Akin Garvey. I only had a handful of ROMs from those Whitman three packs (I wasn't that into it, I did like Starshine though), but similarly, my brother ended up buying a lot of ROM because of the dire wraiths showing up in the other Marvels. Those things used to scare the crap out of me (dire wraiths). Wow, I would never have recognised that as Sal Buscema.

I've always been suspicious of books that had too many guest stars. Makes me think that the original concept is weak and can't survive without it. I'm looking at you Dazzler.

Most of the comics I'm reading at the moment are Marvels from 1982.

How is the first Howard the duck series? I could get the Omnibus for 50$, which is not too bad, but is it good, or more a goofy comic you're done with after a few issues?? That's a difficult one because it's a love it/hate it series. I read them last year and utterly loved them, but I know many posters on another site I frequent detested the run with a passion. It's been a while since you posted the question, I just noticed, so you may have already decided what to do. It's just not for everyone, I guess.

One of the shops here has a bunch of issues, but unless I want to pay $20 a pop it's going to take some time to get them all.

Also it has a lot of crossover with The Negation (and a little crossover with The First), so you might want to pick that up as well.
