If it's not too late to ask, how 'bout a Thor review thread next year? It's unlikely. Shax, I'm in a funny place right now. I have lost the thirst for comics and have even put all my comics away in the attic. Some personal struggles have all but killed my interest in moving books around. I completed the Flash run about a month ago , and like you when you picked up that Batman 10?, my love for the hunt is gone. My hats off to you , reviews are a lot of work.

Look for "first wave" (68-75) undergrounds that I don;t have. Picked up a few, but not in any systematic way. Focusing on Corben and Pekar.Find some Dell Flying Saucers and Gold Key UFO comics for my grandson. Since he likes those, try him out on some Ripley's and BK Tales of Mystery. These remain hard to find; I've been sending of Dennis the Menace and Disney Ducks, plus some Btman adventures.Organize my comics. Did it, but due for another round.
Organize my books. See aboveThis will help me set up on office/studio space (there's a chance that I can opt to largely work from home even after covid). Waiting for final paperwork from the state so my ex can move her stuff out, then have to plan for how to dispose of the ton of stuff from my parents house: sell, donate, give to kids, etc.

I accomplished some of mine...it just so happened that there was a buying-frenzy so I sold off a couple THOUSAND and am down to more manageable 5000ish. Made some (very) decent green.
Purchases have been really spotty, not dead...just put on hold for a bit so I haven't put much of anything in the purchases thread for some time. I have some good opportunities this month. One was rebuying a (raw) variant for $80 that I had sold for $250 and can resell for $200....as well as some books for my own stash.
I'm glad I bought high-grade silver-age Spidey 10 years ago...the prices now are insane, and I might let go off a few spares when the movie comes out.
I'm now also 75% mylite....they're much better than regular polypropylene bags.

I didn't do this last year, because my goals stay pretty constant, but I'm feeling like 2021 is a turning point My long standing goal of 'read all the stuff I have' is getting close to it's end.... I'm down to 1/2 a milk crate of bargain bin/grab bag buys from years past., and a short box of partial runs I might need to add to for proper reading. My TPB pile is pretty low as well, and I've completed a few of the showcase volumes I have.. still several left, but a dent has been made. So my 2021 goals: -FINISH the unread pile! I've been making good progress by not buying things until I read a few from the pile, then finish the last things I've bought.. it's working really well. I'm going to get there! The never ending quest! I've made some more progress... I'm done to just a (full) milk crate, but there were some sales I couldn't pass up. - Continue converting to Plastic short boxes... I bought 5 to test, and I love them.. this goal is more about money than anything, but I've definitely getting more soon. I got another 8 over the course of the year, so like 1/3 there! Slowly but surely....Collecting goals: -Get rid of at least 1 box worth of odd and ends I'll never touch again. Success! And I got rid of them in the best possible way... I gave them to my 11 year old Nephew that has a newly rising interest in comics!-keep only things I want to keep when getting grab bags/dollar bin stuff Sort of successful... as I just stayed away from them. The one time I did a dollar bin run it was all stuff from my want list (Filling in the Gerard Jones GL run and some of the recent Iron Man books I'm not willing to pay full price for)-Continue buying 80s Avengers comics, and Silver Age Hawkman Nope
-Find a good deal or two on the few Iron Man Silver Age books I need. Got one! #40 (for 7.49)

My main goal continues to be to read more comics from my unread pile than I buy. This has been a challenge. It makes me reluctant to make buying goals, because it prevents the pile from getting smaller. Some other reading goals: - Giant Green Lantern binge read. Ideally, I want to read the whole Silver/Bronze Age run of his intro issues in Showcase, GL #1-224, the back-up stories in Flash during the temporary cancellation, Annuals, & the Tales of the GL Corps mini-series. At the least, I want to read from the beginning through the Flash back-ups this year. DONE! And I read Millennium for good measure. And it's a pretty huge goal compared to all my other reading goals.- Read Essential Captain America vol. 7 DONE!- Read at least one more Essential Thor volume Not gonna happen. Tried starting the next volume recently, but not in the mood.- Read at least 2 Golden Age DC Archives (or the Golden Age Batman Omnibus I have) Not gonna happen. Did get a few issues into an Omnibus.- Binge read Perez's Wonder Woman through at least #21 (which is the unbroken run I own) DONE!- Read some Defenders Not yet, but maybe.- Read at least part of the 3 Black Widow TPBs I bought Read all 3 in their entirety! DONE!- Binge read some Legion of Super-Heroes (any group of consecutive issues/stories, not necessarily from the beginning) In progress. I'm three issues into Legion Archives vol. 9. I'll definitely finish that one, and might go on to vol. 10.- Between reducing those unread piles, re-read some X-Men/X-Factor/New Mutants Binge read my way through Uncanny X-Men #139-167. Might do a little bit of X-Factor or New Mutants by the end of December.
Although I didn't read some of the specific things I was considering, I have done a lot of comics reading this year: a few dozen issues of Avengers, a couple dozen West Coast Avengers, Vision & the Scarlet Witch, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Hawk & Dove mini, the first 25 issues of Suicide Squad, Strange Tales (80s version), some Aparo Aquaman, Aparo & Fleisher on Spectre . . .Buying goals: - Because reading more than I buy is a goal, I don't mind missing out on any of these goals - Buy less prominent X-Men related books that I may have missed from the 1970s through early 1990s. I try to be an X-books completist (allowing TPBs in lieu of original issues) from inception through the end of Claremont's run in 1991. But I know I'm missing a few pieces, like a Marvel Fanfare story or two. I bought 3 issues of Marvel Fanfare featuring X-Men, although the last one was published after the Claremont run. I also bought 4 issues of the quarterly Marvel Super-Heroes with stories featuring X-Men or New Mutants. I also bought a TPB reprinting the Havok & Wolverine: Meltdown miniseries. Bought 4 issues of Marvel Comics Presents for Wolverine stories, some Rom issues with the X-Men or New Mutants, and the last Rogue appearance in Dazzler that I didn't have. I went a little nuts and bought several Excalibur TPBs in a Black Friday sale online. That's one X-book that I haven't collected all that much of.- Think about whether I want to replace some black & white Essential Daredevil or Essential Avengers with color Epic Collection or Omnibus reprints I bought Avengers Omnibus vol. 3. I bought Avengers Omnibus vol. 3.- Close some holes in my Cap run in the 200s between the Essentials and Death of Red Skull TPB I bought #260 and #279 off Ebay, and they're on their way. Bought the 3 last issues (267, 271, 285) I need to close this gap. DONE!- Buy more Peter David Hulk Can't remember if I bought 1 or 2 dollar box issues, but I just got another Peter David TPB in that Black Friday sale.- Buy the Phantom Stranger Omnibus. If I decide to do this, it would be a leap of faith, as I haven't read much with the character. Not gonna happen, since this was apparently pushed back to 2022.- Buy more of the Perez Wonder Woman run if I like the issue I read this year enough Decided not too because I didn't enjoy my binge read enough.Where I am now.

Let's see how things have been going: shaxper , I've been waiting all week for this thread to pop up, as it's one of my favorite things to do on either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Buying GoalsThe only floppie I am actively searching in 2021 is Conan the Barbarian #14. The first Epic Collection has issues #1-13, and I have #15-115 in floppies, so I want to complete the circuit and then get down to reading. Decided to buy the first Conan Epic Collection instead, so I acquired this story but not this floppie. WINI play to buy 1 TPB of either Saga of the Swamp Thing (probably just the remaining three Alan Moore collections) or Hellblazer (I have a handful of these already) or a Marvel Epic Collection each month in 2021. Got the three Saga of the Swamp Thing books, have picked up about four Hellblazer trades, and have gotten three Marvel Epics, but I also have bought eight Sandman trades, so I'll call this a WIN Going to try to limit the $1/$2 bin books to maybe some Batman and Detective, but they have to be from the same general time period as the ones I already have. Not looking to get the whole run, just build around the stories I already own. Been pretty good on this, although I have expanded and grabbed some Amazing Adventures (with the Killraven stories) as well as some Jonah Hex and pre-Crisis Flash. That said, it's probably has been one of my smallest buying years ever.Reading GoalsAiming for another 1,000 this year, which I just barely made in 2020 (spent WAY TOO MUCH time playing video games in Q4 and only crossed the threshold on December 30). Just barely crossed the 625 threshold at the end of November, so this is almost certainly not going to happenSpecific books I want to read are: Amazing Spider-Man from #53 - 123, which is where my Epic Collections end. They will eventually publish the next edition, which will cover #124 - #140, and then I can read straight through to #400. Read through #85, then started reading Fantastic Four from the beginning. May pick this up in 2022.Conan the Barbarian, #1 - 115 - after I find a copy of #14 Read through #25, then got sidetracked by ASM and FFSaga of the Swamp Thing - the Alan Moore issues Read all of them!Hellblazer - going to be working on these from Delano issues as they come in Read every one of them I've bought, across Delano, Ennis, Ellis, and othersWonder Woman - I have the first four George Perez TPBs that I want to get through Have not gotten to this in 2021Daredevil - I plan to pick this back up from issue #65 and work through it as I did with Iron Man this year Have not gotten to this in 2021Reviewing GoalsAnother year went by without a post in my Captain America review thread. I'm hoping to revive this in 2021, but it's going to depend a lot on how busy my new job is. Nope. I have the desire but not the will right now. Maybe in 2022.That's it. Modest goals for 2021, as I feel I can achieve them and have a sense of accomplishment, rather than shooting for the moon and being disappointed.

Resolutions? We don't need no steenking resolutions!?! Continue reading comic books not good enough for you all? Ok, more specifically finish up reading my Elquest, Usagi Yojimbo and Judge Dredd trades. Start on reading my Conan Omnibus (have 1-4). Read my ROM Spaceknight and Micronauts complete runs. Read my Marvel Tarzan complete run. Continue reading/commenting on my Valerian trades. I am NOT a reviewer but maybe start a post on comments of my reading Corto Maltese so Shaxper has somewhere else to post. Maybe do the same for Elfquest and Ms. Tree if settle into New Year. Continue hunting and searching for inexpensive missing issues in my DC war books. Do same for my Marvel Westerns. Do same for Jughead comics. No TOY purchases except for my Hot Wheels or the very occasional MUST HAVE figure. Lord knows what else? Cruddy year for following my resolutions. I had to watch finances while spending frugally.
Read Marvel Tarzan but NONE of the rest. Did begin Cerebus which wasn't part of the plan. Dove headlong instead into reading Archie Jughead volume 2, Jonah Hex volume 2 and Batman from the start in the 1940's. Focused in October classic Horror comics from various publishers.
No commenting/reviewing on listed options but have started a few mini reviews on Gold Key Star Trek.
Have found a few $2-3 War and Westerns in the early part of the year. No comic buys since early summer.
Managed several "wants" in toy figures. I found a Funko Pop Mirror Mirror Captain Kirk. Several Mego monsters: Frankenstein, Christopher Lee Dracula and Wolfman. A pair of plastic Halloween face masks of the Wolfman and Planet of the Apes. And of course several Hot Wheels of classic muscle cars, flame paints and 3 different Batmobiles.
That is how it goes with resolutions. Make 'em and break 'em.

Stretch drive for the marathon of 2021, lets assess before we go into that final stretch. Outside of the FB group auctions, I don't see myself buying anything new before the end of the year. There's a Jim and Dan show next weekend, but I am skipping it (I usually skip the December show often it's the same Sunday as my wife's family get together, but that was this past Sunday, this year, we have a D&D session scheduled) and I won't be hitting any shops before the end of the year except to pick up m pulls and maybe some bags and boards if I can find them. Ah 2021 goals... Buying Goals-In 2020, I made a lot of progress on my Silver Age Hawkman collection, getting everything except for the 3 keys that are mostly beyond my comfort zone in price. Those three being Brave & Bold #34, Hawkman #1 and Hawkman #4. If I can find one at a comfortable price, I'd like to add one of those to my collection. It's doubtful, but we'll see. -finish off the other Silver Age/Bronze age Hawkman books on my want list-Atom #7 (7th appearance of Hawkman, 1st outside of Brave & Bold), JLA 31 (Hawkman joins JLA), Detective Comics 434 (Hawkman back-up), World's Finest Comics #209, 261 Hawkman appearance or back up) Back issue prices got out of hand for keys since the pandemic started. I am priced out of these right now, so it will be a while before I get those three Hawlkman keys if ever. The other Hawkman related stuff was more doable. I did manage to get a copy of Atom #7 and the two World's Finest issues, but none of the rest. I picked up 2-3 issues, not much else I picked up one Matt Baker issue (Hawk #9), nothing Toth, but I did manage to get ahold of copies of the Toth Genius trilogy via interlibrary loan to read, so read a lot of Toth material this year. I made a lot of progress on Sgt. Rock (and Our Army at War) and The 'Nam. I picked up a handful of Ghost Rider, Phantom, and I.Vampire stuff, but I gave up on getting the Atom stuff for the most part. Didn't do much on the GR stuff outside of the AOK from the Captain. Same with Xenozoic and an AOK from tartanphantom. Did get the Gemstone reprints on the three Piracy issues and one of the Aces High. Finished off Dune and Chilling Adventures. And got a little loser on Spirit Magazine. Picked up one of the Flash Gordon issues. The rest, not so much. Other goals emerged and dominated my buying in 2021. Scooby Doo, Usagi Yojimbo singles, and Groo the Wanderer. Happens every year. nowhere close. Read over 1000 comics, a lot was from trades, or digitally. I think I got to a little more than 400 single issues I actually owned. I've read way more than 50 trades this year, but only 43 of them that I owned at the time (a few I purged after reading as I wasn't going to reread them). A chance I could hit 50, but doubtful. I only read 1 and a bit of a second Wheel of Time book. I will likely pick up the series again after the first season of the Amazon series finishes up. I've read 15 novels/short story collections outside the Wheel of Time, plus a number of non-fiction books, art books, and game (rpg) books). A lot of my reading time was devoted to that area this year. I met my total Goodreads goal in November. I am currently at 93 or 87 pledged. A lot of organizing goals got derailed by 2 things-a shortage of supplies making it difficult to accomplish some of these, and finding a D&D group and starting up 2 campaigns ongoing plus periodic one-shots meaning alot of my free time has gone into DM prep instead of organizing comics. Still overall, all things considered, not bad in terms of what I actually accomplished. No plan, especially yearly resolutions/goals, survives first contact with reality, but I did ok on a lot othe things, at least making significant progress where I fell short of the stated goals. I have got a lot of thinking/rethinking to do before I establish my 2022 goals though. -M

My goals for 21 aren't that lofty. I have a few key things I'd like to do: 1. Comic Binding Project: I started this mid- 2020 to bind runs together that will never see the light of a hardcover of runs I truly enjoy. Are they great and legendary runs? Not in particular. These are runs I love that will sit on my bookshelves instead of lounging in a longbox. I have 7 volumes out there right, just need to finish up my cover designs and then work on another 20 volumes hopefully this year. 2. CGC My Collection: I want to keep the books in the conditions I got them since I first purchased them many years ago. I have 5 books done year (5 are still at CGC) but want to do hopefully 50 this year. Preservation over key issues, mainly slabbing books that are important to me. 3. Buying Goals: I don't really have any. I'm not truly hunting down issues but there's about 15 Amazing Spider-Man books I would like CGC that were part of my youth. 4 Miscellaneous Comic Stuff: Own a couple more pieces of original art. Aside from that, 21 will be quiet. I'm not really buying that much as I unloaded over 3000 comics and 300 trades this year. I'm keeping the essentials of my collection. Let's compare... 1. Comic Binding Project- Another 7 hardcovers done with another 14 in process right now. I should have 7 of them done soon as I'm working on layouts of the covers and backs. Then work on the remaining covers. After that, another 14 volumes and hopefully that should be it. 2. CGC My Collection: *sigh* Some problems here. Mainly it's CGC's backlog of books during the pandemic. I had 12 more done this year and have 18 currently listed as "In Grading"; been like that since August. I blame their lack of getting orders done while promoting tons of signature series events that fast lane those books first over the ones in the system. If I'm lucky I'll get them in early 22. I might stop getting books done for a while. 3. Buying Goals: My Spider-Man purchasing are on hold. Hopefully I'm going to a comic show in 2 weeks; first one in two years. Maybe I'll find something there. 4. Miscellaneous Comic Stuff: Eh.. nothing there really. Only new comic I buy is Love & Rockets, which comes out once or twice a year. Sounds like my 21 was what I was looking to do. The comic binding project is where I'm having more fun with my collection. Making HCs and trades of stuff that will never get the light of day, or stuff that's out of print. -R
