Whew! I thought you were going to read Star Wars the rabbit years ... Listen, I'm still upset that we never got the Jaxxon spin-off series that Roy Thomas proposed back in 1978. Ahh, what could've been...

My main goal continues to be to read more comics from my unread pile than I buy. This has been a challenge. It makes me reluctant to make buying goals, because it prevents the pile from getting smaller. Some other reading goals: - Giant Green Lantern binge read. Ideally, I want to read the whole Silver/Bronze Age run of his intro issues in Showcase, GL #1-224, the back-up stories in Flash during the temporary cancellation, Annuals, & the Tales of the GL Corps mini-series. At the least, I want to read from the beginning through the Flash back-ups this year. DONE. And I read Millennium for good measure. And it's a pretty huge goal compared to all my other reading goals.- Read Essential Captain America vol. 7 DONE.- Read at least one more Essential Thor volume - Read at least 2 Golden Age DC Archives (or the Golden Age Batman Omnibus I have) - Binge read Perez's Wonder Woman through at least #21 (which is the unbroken run I own) - Read some Defenders - Read at least part of the 3 Black Widow TPBs I bought - Binge read some Legion of Super-Heroes (any group of consecutive issues/stories, not necessarily from the beginning) - Between reducing those unread piles, re-read some X-Men/X-Factor/New Mutants Buying goals: - Because reading more than I buy is a goal, I don't mind missing out on any of these goals - Buy less prominent X-Men related books that I may have missed from the 1970s through early 1990s. I try to be an X-books completist (allowing TPBs in lieu of original issues) from inception through the end of Claremont's run in 1991. But I know I'm missing a few pieces, like a Marvel Fanfare story or two. I bought 3 issues of Marvel Fanfare featuring X-Men, although the last one was published after the Claremont run. I also bought 4 issues of the quarterly Marvel Super-Heroes with stories featuring X-Men or New Mutants. I also bought a TPB reprinting the Havok & Wolverine: Meltdown miniseries.- Think about whether I want to replace some black & white Essential Daredevil or Essential Avengers with color Epic Collection or Omnibus reprints I bought Avengers Omnibus vol. 3.- Close some holes in my Cap run in the 200s between the Essentials and Death of Red Skull TPB I bought #260 and #279 off Ebay, and they're on their way.- Buy more Peter David Hulk - Buy the Phantom Stranger Omnibus. If I decide to do this, it would be a leap of faith, as I haven't read much with the character. Not gonna happen, since this was apparently pushed back to 2022.- Buy more of the Perez Wonder Woman run if I like the issue I read this year enough My progress on resolutions so far is in green.

Hey spoon , that's a lot of GL reading. Did it drag ? Surprisingly, it didn't really drag. Based on some past reading, I thought I might hit some Silver Age doldrums, but I moved at a pace of over 2 issues per day. The slowest part wasn't really Green Lantern. The issues with Adam Strange as the back-up slowed me up, because I found those back-ups so boring. But I didn't want to change the ground rules and stick parts of issues, even if they were GL stories.

Halfway check-in! Buying Goals- Incredible Hulk #318-376. It's been ages since I've tracked down a long run to read (my "To Read" pile is already so high!), but I'm very interested in finally reading the "Joe Fixit" stories and the Peter David stuff that follows. I already have and have read #377, and figured it was a good stopping point (once I've acquired and read the rest of the stretch) before determining if I want to keep going forward. I made this goal with the assumption that Covid would be over and I'd be hitting conventions again. It's possible Amber and I will attend one this summer since we are vaccinated, but two of our kids aren't old enough to receive it yet, so we won't be going as a family

Six month progress report. As usual, my buying focus has evolved over the course of the first half of the year and some priorities have changed. Ah 2021 goals... As usual my goals are still in a bit of a flux at this point in the game. Buying goals are slightly dependent on if and when comic cons start up again (not expecting it before late spring/summer at the earliest). Reading goals are always in flux as I really came to terms with the fact I am a mood reader as 2020 progressed, and things that might be on my radar in January may not be when I get the time to get around to them in later months, and things nowhere near my radar in January become priorities in later months. Organizing is in flux since there seems to be a shortage of comic supplies in the marketplace due to the pandemic-our lcs has been out of bags and boards since October and their suppliers have them backordered with the earliest expected delivery date being April, so availability of needed supplies to complete some of the organization projects is questionable. That all being said, I do have some vague ideas what I'd like to accomplish. Buying Goals-In 2020, I made a lot of progress on my Silver Age Hawkman collection, getting everything except for the 3 keys that are mostly beyond my comfort zone in price. Those three being Brave & Bold #34, Hawkman #1 and Hawkman #4. If I can find one at a comfortable price, I'd like to add one of those to my collection. It's doubtful, but we'll see. Haven't been able to touch any of these. Prices have soared on all books, but especially that Howkman #4. I do have a couple feelers out on Hawkman 1, but nothing definitive yet. I pikced off a few form the list. Atom 7 and the two World's Finest issues are done. The Tec and JLA issue are still on the want list. I did pick up the Zee appearance in Lois Lane 132 but not much else outside of that. Nothing Toth related. I did pick up Hawk #9 which features a new Baker cover and a couple or reprint stories by Baker, so 1/2 on that. I've been real focused on Sgt. Rock, and have now gotten over 35 issues I needed from that series, plus some Our Army at War issues. I've gotten a fair bit of 'Nam issues too, and a smattering of 70s Ghost Riders issues, and maybe 2-3 Phantom issues and Atom issues. The only quest I completed was picking up Chilling Adventures in Sorcery #1, but pretty much nothing else on the rest. I've started picking up Usagi back issues when I see them and a handful of Disney Ducks, neither of which were on the list, but have lost interest in some of the stuff I was seeking at the beginning of the year. Onto reading goals... Nowhere near on pace for the 1000 comics that I own. I'll be lucky to make 500. I've read 26 trades that I owned, but I culled 2 of those in the meantime, so the total is at 24 for those I still currently own, which is just about on pace. I finished book 5 of the Wheel of Time, started book 6 and have stalled again. I just haven't been reading much prose the last little bit outside of game materials as we prep to launch not one, but two different D&D groups. I've read 4 novels/story collections that I own outside the Wheel of Time series so far this year, putting me at 1 behind the pace to reach 10. According to my Goodreads page, I've read 46 qualifying books this year, which puts me 3 ahead of pace for my goal. Now on to organization goals. I've finished cataloging everything, so that's done. Fighting supply shortages has slowed down the rest a bit, but I've made good progress. I've gotten about halfway through making sure everything is bagged/boarded and ut away for Indies & licensed books, and about a quarter to a third of the way through Marvel. The DC books are mostly upstairs not in the basement, but some will be moving down once everything else is done. Most of the upstairs is done. I have 2 small stacks of trades and paperbacks left to shelve and that's it, but deciding to use that upstairs space as our gaming room as well has changed some of the decisions we made for space usage, so most of the comics up there have to come down to find room in the basement to make way for a table and gaming materials (a process that is underway, the table is up, most of the gaming materials are up there, it's just a matter of transporting what's leaving down the basement now). So overall, we're on track with most things except reading the floppies I own, and the change from upstairs to downstairs on a lot of books has limited their accessibility while I move them down and get them settled down there. -M

So that's unread pile reduction.Buying goals: - Because reading more than I buy is a goal, I don't mind missing out on any of these goals - Buy less prominent X-Men related books that I may have missed from the 1970s through early 1990s. Reading : Read Badger from 13-70 to complete a read through of that runCompletedGot a question for you! Badger was my favorite 80's Indy, I've got the first 50 issues and really enjoyed the earlier part of the run. What are your thoughts on the last 20 issues (51-70) of the series? Are they worth checking out? The art on the covers did not appeal to me as much, but didn't know if I was missing some good stories.

Baron was great as usual. It leads into mini series after issue 70.

Not only didn't Covid go away, but Owen came down with Lupus in early July and has since been severely immunocompromised, so no conventions or shows this year, and the only real reason I set this goal was for the thrill of the in-person hunt.
