I haven't actually watched wrestling for over a decade but I saw an interesting documentary a few years ago on I think IFC called Beyond the Mat. It had interviews with Mick Foley and Terry Funk among others. What I thought was really interesting and took me by surprise was that Jake "The Snake" had a substance abuse problem battling an addiction to crack cocaine and IIRC was reunited with his estranged daughter. The film ends with a younger wrestler Darren Drozdov who was paralyzed in the ring during a live match.

I wish the WWE had the budget to incorporate a CGI Ben Grimm into their programs. I haven't watched wrestling since the old NWO days (1996-1998?) but given The Things experience as a pro-wrestler in the comics, it would be amusing if they had decent writers. (Granted only .01% of the audience would get the joke, but who cares about such diminishing returns?!) Thee and me, Robert. It's a shame WWE couldn't at least have CGI Thing somehow, someway make an appearance during one of Punk's WrestleMania entrances, with Mania entrances being more blown up with effects, props, and sometimes even the bonafide band playing the wrestler's theme music. Amazingly, the only time I've ever seen Ben Grimm referenced outside of Punk's "It's Clobberin' Time!" hollering was a sign someone was holding near the ring during either the 2012 Christmas/Holiday Raw or the Raw after that one, and on that sign was, I believe, this pic (if not, then a quite similar one). Very needless to say, I flipped (or better yet, to use a pro wrestling term, marked out) when I spotted that.

PErhaps if they ever manage to get a decent costume, someone will run with that... it would be awesome... After all the Hurricane was great!

He took part in DDP's Yoga and has lived with him. In a nice deal Jake returned....and had some fun. A month later Jake was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame....

Well its time for some WRASSLIN NEWS folks. I'm gonna post the TNA news here since ...well til the site and demand gets big enough to post TNA/ROH news in its own thread.
- Vince Russo has opened up his own website and its name is Vince Russo's PyroandBallyHoo.com . Its there Russo can do what comes natural...rant on shit and be his usual self. He plans to rant on entertainment stars and more.
- Russo also in an interview with Wrestlecrap has basically slammed the stories he's working as a consultant for TNA , Jeff Jarrett or WWE. That he's working on his website and damn happy to be out of the business.
- Kurt Angle may have a potential TV series role. He is shooting a pilot and will play a police Sgt. The show will also star Katrina Leigh (Winter) as well.
- According to F4WOnline.com , the Bray Wyatt/John Cena storyline will continue past the Payback PPV . Also the child actor who played "Little Johnny" and spooked Cena at Extreme Rules is the son of an old WWF regular named Jamison Winger. The kid if you looked is famous for the Cam Newton ad that ran last year.
- WWE Network has added 30 more episodes of ECW Hardcore TV to the network this week.

I think Brock is gone for a while. He's really got no interest in WWE, he just likes the pay checks.
I think Bryan will have a pretty long run, I just hope it's not like Punk's and ends up putting the title in the mid card, as it's very much in danger of doing.

I miss the attitude era. I remember Stone Cold Steve Austin being a virtual nobody and being in matches with other nobodies like Savio Vega...then one day, he gets in Bret Hart's face and his career booms. But most importantly, he had the mike skills and personality to do it. I don't see that in the new so-called rising star...Rock's cousin, Roman Reigns. Not yet anyway. If it wasn't for Brock lurking around these days, I'd be a lost WWE fan. Austin was destined to be a star. He was someone who really became "Stone Cold" in ECW. But the WCW run had the guys there got behind him and Pillman , both could have been big stars there. Roman Reigns is coming. He's gonna be THAT GUY soon. He's gonna get HHH at Summerslam from most reports. Lesnar is expected back to fued perhaps with Cesaro. But everyone expects that Lesnar will put over Cesaro since he's the young talent they are building and Brock is a part timer .

AJ Styles won the IWGP Title over the weekend. He won the title because New Japan is getting ready to make a push into the USA this summer with a ROH joint show soon. They want him to carry the title here for the summer more or less.

The wrestlin' dunce with 2 more questions
What ever happened to GLOW? That seemed to be a big thing for awhile.I could look it up but rather hear you're take
Is there a Babe Ruth of wrestling? An overwhelming consensus of who made the biggest impact on the public and/or the best performer. I would guess Hulk Hogan

Man, I haven't thought about GLOW in years. I can't remember turning on the TV in a hotel room as a kid and GLOW not being the first thing I saw. At the same time, I can't remember ever seeing it on TV in a residence.

- GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) was a show that ran from 1986-1992 in syndication . The show was very popular with its WWF type atmosphere but the promotion really wasn't much of a big money deal. Basically the Vegas Casino's kept it going to entertain people who came there to gamble. Beautiful women wrestling was the ticket and it was ran by David McLane and Jackie Stallone awhile. The promotion was revived in 2001 but hasn't really ran as much as it used to. McLane formed Women of Wrestling in 2000 when the wrestling boom period was at its hottest and it only ran 2 years in syndication. Glow was fun honestly. As a young kid watching it had its characters. It was like the female version of the WWF then. - Babe Ruth wise...the greatest wrestlers named are usually Hogan , Flair and Sammertino. Bruno had 200+ sellouts at MSG where in an era he didn't travel far. People packed that arena to watch Bruno. Flair traveled all over the damn globe and was proclaimed one of the best at his craft. He won more titles and he also...had what is considered one of North America's greatest singles matches ever with Ricky Steamboat in 1989 (Wrestle War PPV....1 Hour Iron Man Match) . Hogan himself propelled wrestling to what we see now. Wrestlemania was built off his back basically. All 3 have that claim as being #1 and the Babe Ruth . Its hard to pick one and deny the others.
