I'm not really a Harley fan, (she was decent in the old animated series but I don't need DC to have a Deadpool) but she was amazing here.. my favorite of the villains for sure. I felt Penguin was so quick to kill her son because she already didn't trust him.. there was some implied back story there I though, but maybe I was just writing my own . Not that much into modern comics, but until 2008 or so, Harley in the comics felt pretty underwhelming. Now she is Deadpool and a "sexpot" like in the Suicide Squad movies? What a waste.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I am not ashamed to admit I am not a big fan of a whole lot of change when it comes to my childhood cartoons, shows, movies etc, but Caped Crusader was able to do it in a way that did not irritate me and added some interesting depth character and story wise that I had not anticipated. On a side note I must say I hate how TV shows/cartoons are done these days. It seems like just when you are getting into it good and really feeling the story and characters... BIFF!, BAM!, BOOM!, POW!.... the season is over. I can't stand these 6 to 8 episode seasons sometimes 10 (as this one was) if your lucky.

Finally watched Batman: Caped Crusader. It was alright, but underwhelming. I found the animation often stiff and the art direction very weak. For all the talk about playing up the noir elements, aside from the B&W opening credits, there's virtually no use of heavily contrasting light/shadow in the visuals at all. Look at the original intro to BTAS: that is what Caped Crusader should've looked like, instead of this evenly-lit, flat aesthetic they went with. I also felt the runtime was too short and/or there weren't enough episodes to probably explore any of the characters; you got Batman as this brutal, aloof vigilante gradually rediscovering his humanity, Harleen's budding romance with Montoya, Dent as a corrupt, internally conflicted DA running for mayor, etc., and there isn't enough room provided to properly execute any of these arcs. I can't give this first season anything higher than 6/10. I'll watch the next season, but the creators really better step up their game or I'm out.
