Just watched yesterday's GoT episode. No Tyrion? Well, at least we got a handful of Littlefinger.

Last night I watched the new episode of TURN, in which Gen. Washington finally appears. Pulled up on hulu last weeks Agents of SHIELD, which is still working throught the repurcusions of the Winter Soldier film. (Also caught most of the new The Simpsons, which was a kind of SF story about an alternate dimension where everyone is made out of Lego.)

Pulled up on hulu last weeks Agents of SHIELD, which is still working throught the repurcusions of the Winter Soldier film. I really gave Agents of SHIELD a try, but it wore me off after a few episodes. I tried again, the one starring Amy Acker, but nope, even with her in it, the show isn't for me.

I tend to give a wide berth during the first season to these kinds of shows -- broadcast-network, "genre," 22-episode-season shows. The first 13+ episodes tend to be very repetitious, in order to establish the premise and characters for all the new viewers tuning in each week. So I understand where you're coming from. I actually stopped watching for six weeks or so and only caught all the way back up last night. If you've seen Winter Soldier, you'd know that the events of that film have necessarily blown up the entire premise of the SHIELD tv show. Not that I've read more than one issue, but it seems more like Hickman's Secret Warriors now. It's almost a different show than it was and so far seems to be humming along nicely. I agree. The upside-downing of the SHIELD show in the wake of Winter Soldier was the best thing that could've happened to it. I'd been watching out of habit or misplaced loyalty or some damn thing and only now do I actually look forward to it. Loved their take on Blackout as super-stalker. Hope they keep Ward bad but I'm okay with a last-minute fatal return to heroism.

I can't imagine watching a show that spends thirteen episodes establishing anything. I assume they're expecting word of mouth to help the audience grow, but I feel like by about week six you'll start getting lots of people thinking it's going nowhere.
The only things I make it a point to watch are Venture Bros, Archer and Psych (which is now over).
I love the first episode of True Detective and enjoyed the entire series (fourth episode being an exception), but once it was over I had no desire to ever watch it again and have no interest in future seasons.

Anyone else watching the final season of Mad Men? I haven't watched last night's episode, but its shaping up nicely for the first half of final season.

I don't have cable but I keep up with a few shows through Netflix, Hulu+, and my grandpa's HBOGO account.

True Detective will have a different setting, premise, cast, and director next season. The writer/creator will be the same, though.

The writer/creator will be the same, though. That's all I need. I loved the actors, but I'm sure Pizzolatto will ace the casting again.
