I think the rockiness of the start is actually a bit overstated - if you come into it expecting Steranko or Kirby SHIELD and space epics and giant battles and helicarriers everywhere you would have been disappointed. If you expected something a bit more like the SHIELD from the MCU films, I think it was OK, though the characters were a bit anodyne to start with. However it really kicked on towards the first half of the first series, and then fired the afterburners in the fall-out from the Captain America: Winter Solder film - the 2nd half of the 1st series had to deal with all of that.
The first half of the second series has largely kept up that level of pace / interest, and then they've just dropped in a reveal about the Inhumans, which is another MCU game-changer. No characters named yet, and none of the familiar characters shown

Agreed on SHIELD's shortcomings being overstated. Frankly, I thought the majority of the complaints were nitpicking or fanboys being fanboys. It maybe started a little slowly, I guess, but if you go in knowing it doesn't the budget of the Avengers movie, it's quite good. I've enjoyed it all along, but it really kicked into high gear after the Cap 2 tie-in as others have said. It's one of the only shows I care to keep up to date on. I say check it out.

Ascension premieres on Syfy channel tonight. What exactly is that? A mini series shown over three nights. The first episode was surprisingly good.

A mini series shown over three nights. The first episode was surprisingly good. It was pretty good, but I think the "reveal" was too soon. Now we've got, what, two more nights of this show, and we already know the deal.

There's a new LEGO BATMAN special on in 20 minutes. Was it any good? It was okay. Kind of cute. Batman refuses Superman's pleas to join the Justice League, then when Superman goes missing, batman has to ask the JL for help in finding him. I'm sure it will show up as a DVD extra on some future Batman Lego feature-length movie.

An fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra? The series finale just aired, and the wife and I binge-watched the last season yesterday. Mostly good stuff.

John Larroquette, Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, and a cute redhead? I may have to be in on The Librarians. I enjoyed the show's take on Santa. Instead of trying to sell the audience on the idea that Santa comes to people's houses delivering presents, they make this Santa an avatar of good will, over which the heroes and villains contend.

But I'm only on episode 8 of Balance. I just finished the clip show. It wasn't bad, but I was not left satisfied. A recap in the last leg of the series? Crazy.

My nephew (he's 10) is a big fan of the show and I wasn't in any hurry to watch it because he likes some really AWFUL stuff. But I was passing through when the Christmas show started and I started watching because of Bruce Campbell. Plus there's Rebecca Romjin! Wow!
I ended up liking it a lot. I'll probably be watching it semi-regularly, the way I watch Doctor Who.

Lots to discuss after you get to the ending. Stay off the internet news sites...spoilers all over.
