I just watched the fifth episode of the Star Trek Continues web series yesterday. Among all the fan-made Trek shows, that is my favourite; its scripts are remarkably true to the spirit of the old series, and having the son of James Doohan play Scotty (convincingly, too!) is amazingly cool. Other actors from the original series also show up from time to time (or fan favourites like Lou Ferigno). The actor who plays Kirk doesn't have the same voice as William Shatner, but he really does a convincing interpretation; both men look alike, have the same build and move the same way. It's almost eerie at times. The special effects are very close to what we were used to in the '60s, even if they're probably computer-generated. I much prefer that look to the video-game aesthetics typical of today's productions. There a sixth episode coming soon; I look forward to it! I never thought I'd hear myself saying anything like this, but you've almost made me feel I should give this a chance.

I watched the first episode of Preacher last weekend. Dunno if I'll bother with the rest. They seem to have changed almost everything except the characters' names, for no good reason that I can see. They're trying to create a world that includes elements of the original stories but that can stand on its own. I'll give it a couple of more episodes to see if it grows on me a little more.

I'm subscribed to their Youtube channel: their 6th episode hit it less than a week ago.

It's on Youtube rather than on TV proper but everyone should see the PBS Space Time series. It's a complete mind bender that truly highlights how extraordinarily amazing and beautiful our universe is. That humble mortals have been able to figure out all that stuff leaves me deeply humbled and exhilarated.

Stranger things on Netflix.
It's like a cross between the goonies (without the cuteness) and the X-files. Most of the kids in there are very good actors, and David Harbour and Wynona Rider are really convincing. The '80s setting is surprising, but it works really well! I love the old-fashioned credits, the old-fashioned (cringe inducing) music, and even the old-fashioned clichés used on purpose!
There's a lot of good stuff on TV recently... I must admit I'm surprised, but I ain't complainin' !

Seeing you mention it just reinforces I need to take a look at it. -M

Finally got around to watching the last 7 episodes of Mad Men over the last week. Next up I think I might start season 3 of Spiral (English subtitled version of French cop series Engrenages).

I see Goonies yes but I also see E.T., Firestarter, Poltergeist and more. The feels are all there, and that's what I appreciate the most about it. It also has one of the best intros I've seen in a good while. Great stuff!
