I just watched the early premiere of Kidding with Jim Carrey on Showtime Xfinity On Demand and really enjoyed it. It's also available for free on youtube for those interested. The show is exactly what it looks like in the trailers a quasi Mr. Rogers archetype going through a mental breakdown. Carrey is charming in the role and while there's a darkness to it there's also a good use of humor. Not bad at least interesting enough to check out the next episode.

I am rewatching Altered Carbon right now...
Good gravy, I would have totally flipped watching that during my teenage, heavy SciFi years!

Looks like CometTV is looking for stepping up it's B-level status. Besides already running Andromeda and Stargate-SG1 (and all the SG series) they have added Space: 1999 to its weekend schedule with back to back episodes at 10:00pm and starting October 1st they add Babylon 5 to its weekday schedule.

Not exactly TV, and it's not out yet but I was pretty excited to hear that Jordan Peele is helping to bring back The Twilight Zone to CBS All Access

On ION Television, 9pm Pacific Time -- A show called Private Eyes starring Jason Priestley as Matthew Kevin "Matt" ("Shadow") Shade, a former hockey player, now private investigator. And, Cindy Sampson as Angela Susan "Angie" Everett, Shade's feisty boss at Everett Investigations. She is also his P.I. partner. She inherited the agency after the death of her father. This show has the right chemistry, with a bit of comedy, drama, and it's really has a decent charm to it. I've really been enjoying this show and seems to be more pleasant to watch Castle that was cancelled recently. I really enjoyed this show and looking forward watching it tonight later on.

Hadn't heard of Private Eyes, might have to give that a shot. I've been told that another Canadian series Jason Priestley did a few years back, Call Me Fitz, is worth a look but can't vouch for it myself, not having tried it yet.
Best Canadian shows of the last few years that I've seen are Letterkenny, a comedy with mile-a-minute dialogue (and monologue, on occasion); and The Romeo Section, an espionage drama unlike anything else I've seen in that genre. The latter lasted only 2 seasons, unfortunately, and if anything the 2nd was even better than the 1st.
Currently half-way through the 2nd series of Humans, which I'd say is no better than decent, but I'm a huge fan of actress Gemma Chan so I'll basically watch anything she's in. It's centered around a near-future SF scenario based on working AIs, humanoid robots or androids marketed as servants and workers, some of whom achieve a state of consciousness.
Best thing I've seen recently has been Better Call Saul, which I'm finally getting around to after finishing Breaking Bad, to which it is a prequel, a few years ago. It might be even better than the show it's derived from, which is high praise indeed. At the very least I'd say it gets off to a faster start - I thought BB took a few seasons to reach its peak and didn't really become consistently great until the last two years, though there were many high points before then.

I’m currently binging on Designated survivor, letting it play in the background while I draw. It’s addictive! Kind of like the child of 24 and House of cards.

Lately I've been watching two French (France) series that are available with English sub-titles and that I think are up there with the very best tv from anywhere around: The Bureau : a contemporary spy series, very up to date with the current geo-political situation - the main character is a DGSE agent just returned from a long undercover assignment in Syria, but as it unfolds finds himself in an even more dangerous situation upon his return to France. I've seen only the first series so far, and reportedly the 2nd is even better than this one, which will really be saying something, if true. And I just started watching the 2nd series of A Very Secret Service: coincidentally another French spy series, but this one a comedy and set in the 60s. The first series came out in 2015 and it's only now in 2018 that the 2nd one was finally done, so I'm glad to see it. One of those clever comedies that manage to combine lots of easily accessible character and situation-based humour with another layer of subtlety, in this case one from which viewers even casually interested in the history of the period will derive extra satisfaction.

I caught Legacies episode 1 and enjoyed it, school for gifted monsters you might call it. I suspect it borrows from those Twilight shows/films/books but not sure as I've never investigated any of them first-hand.
I'm really mad at the Canadian channel that is running the new season of Supergirl and the digital cable company... 1) it's only on the exact same time as Doctor Who and neither are re-run more than once at some midnight or later hour I can't see (no DVR here)... 2) I counted on catching Supergirl free 'on demand' like the channel is always advertising but the cable people screwed up and put episode 2 on there twice and so far no episode 3 or 4... so I've only seen bits I caught during ad breaks in Doctor Who. They seem to have a dozen new Hawaii Five-O and Magnum PI episodes available just fine but it's been over a week and nobody has corrected or added to the scant Supergirl available. 'Big wah' I know, but I guess I'm the princess and the pea on this small irritation/disappointment!

Just recently finished watching the three seasons of Broadchurch. As a general rule I'm banned from watching lawyer/police shows because I pick them apart unmercifully. This one I could just kind of gloss over and pretend that things are monumentally different in the UK than they are in the US. (I've since heard from a lawyer in the UK that it's pretty bad legally).
Overall I liked the show. Season One was by far the strongest. But it held my attention. And I'm a pretty big fan of David Tennant.

As much as I like the style and the characters in this and a few other British crime shows, there are a few too many illegal entries, bullying witnesses, and, of course, astonishing last-minute deductions in all of them. Plus, as in the Las Vegas of CSI, there's a psychopath and a serial murderer on every block.

A few years ago, someone here in Croatia started an internet meme in response to the Midsomer Murders (a UK police procedural that's pretty popular here) urging the Croatian government to petition the EU or UN to take action to stop into the genocide going on in the English countryside.

Not only a first rate series in itself, I also found it interesting because the French justice system seems to work so differently to the Canadian or UK or US, as far as I can tell from watching tv shows).
