Watching the first episode of T.J. Hooker with William Shatner on MeTV. I haven't watched the series before but it seems like a solid enough police procedural. Not as solid as Shatner's teflon-coated hairpiece. And who has aged better, Adrian Zmed or Shatner?

Not as solid as Shatner's teflon-coated hairpiece. And who has aged better, Adrian Zmed or Shatner? Shatner is 86 and Zmed is 63 and I think Shatner aged well and seeing those photos and having look up in the internet their actual ages and all ... Shatner looks very good at 86. Zmed has 23 years to go and I can't imagine him looking better than Shatner at 86. So, Shatner definitely aged better than Zmed. That's my humble opinion ...

The cloverfield paradox on Netflix is a decent made for TV movie, and it is a little unfortunate that what could have been a really good flick is marred by a few plot points that make no sense or are so factually wrong as to distract from the story. (Couldn’t the scientific advisers have told the director that this is NOT how water behaves in a vacuum? Maybe they did... and were ignored as usual because of plot requirements).
The overall idea is pretty cool and actually makes sense, and the emotional conundrum of the main character is relatable. There is however a general feeling of underexploitation of the many plot threads being set up.
I also have a problem with machines continuing to work after having been so severely damaged. I mean, one faulty hose and my washer is down for the count... shouldn’t that also be the case for machines infinitely more complex?

Started watching Counterpart on Starz and thought the first two episodes were pretty interesting. J. K. Simmons plays dual roles one of which is his doppelganger from an alternate reality.

Lost in space, the new reboot on Netflix.
Impression after the first episode: fairly good.
Points I really enjoyed :
- The musical theme is a slightly updated version of the original. It wouldn’t be LiS without its musical theme, as far as I am concerned.
- The family dynamic is sort of Game-of-thrones-esque, with strong bonds but at least one unexpected serious problem.
- The kids are smart and knowledgeable, but not impossibly so. That would be expected from individuals who were carefully selected for off-world colonization.
- Several future plot points are hinted at.
- Very nice-looking CGI. The Jupiter 2 looks like its old version.
- “Danger, Will Robinson”. I cheered!
- Sly political comment: even in those future days, America is still involved in a war somewhere in the Middle East.
Surprising points I feel neutral about:
- Dr. Smith is now a woman, and Smith is just an identity she stole. I just can’t see her saying “the pain... the pain...” at any future time, which is a pity (unless she does it to mock somebody).
- The robot is an alien construct. That opens new possibilities.
- The Robinsons are all pale Caucasians, except Judy. Are all the kids adopted? Was one of the parents married before? She’s the eldest, so that could be.
Points I didn’t like :
- You just don’t identify magnesium by eye from a far distance.
- That’s not how cold weather works. If it’s warm enough to rain, water doesn’t freeze so fast that you stay stuck in it; water has an enormous capacity for retaining heat.
- The Robot doesn’t look anything like its old self although it does evoke the one from the movie. I guess the clunky barrel of old would have looked farcical no matter how it was adapted, but I will miss it. (I liked the way the movie made it work).
As for the implausible plot twists, well... This is Lost in Space, not Star Trek. A little silliness or convenient plot-mandated nonsense is supposed to come with the territory!
I will definitely continue watching.
*edit* -Four episodes in... I’m hooked!

GREAT season premier for Westworld tonight.
This may actually be my new favorite show. Especially since just about everything last season with Game of Thrones felt totally rushed.

I've been watching Trust on FX--about the Getty kidnapping in 1973. Donald Sutherland and Hilary Swank star and it has been good. Lots of detail to the 70s period and solid acting.

Sad to say this --- I don't watch any of the Superheroes TV Shows on CW anymore because every single of them has some flaws and dissatisfaction to me and I just don't like the creative direction it's going. The worst of the worst -- is Black Lightning and I'm no longer watching Supergirl because it's really a drag on approach of this show taking its toll on me as stories are getting pretty bland.
Watching more movies and very few sitcoms and sad to see Abby Sciuto leaving NCIS.

Well, after a strong 2nd season premiere...Westworld has totally gone to hell in a handbasket.
Can’t even remotely compare to the first season.
It’s gotten to the point where I hope Ed Harris just kills everyone.

I left the live feed from Hawaii’s eruption play all afternoon.
It’s very soothing when you’re half a planet away.

Spent most of the day watching old episodes of "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show", eating Fruity Pebbles and drinking Mountain Dew. I probably wasn't even a "twinkle in my father/mother's eye" when the show initially came out, but that was the true beauty of VHS tapes when I was growing; being able to watch stuff that you otherwise wouldn't really get a chance to be exposed to. A lot of my childhood favorites are like that, especially A Puppetoon Movie, Gumby, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Pee Wee's Playhouse, the 60's Captain America Marvel Super-Heroes serials, and The Mouse & The Motorcycle. It's kind of what turned me into something of multimedia junkie, hence the "Freakzoid!" avatar

I am a couple episodes behind currently, but Ia m still digging the Expanse on SyFy, until I learned SyFy declined to pick it up for a fourth season. Then today it was announced Amazon has picked up the show for its fourth season and it will continue on Amazon Prime for its next season. I tend to let a couple episodes pile up and then watch a couple at a time (I plan on catching up with what's on the DVR this weekend. Season 1 was good from the get go, season two took a little bit to get its feet under it, but once it did it was as good as season one. Season three started like season two, but felt like it was hitting its stride with the last episode I watched, so I am looking forward to the rest. I think a larger part of it is that there are so many disparate elements woven together to form the bigger picture of the overall narrative that it takes a while to get all the pieces in place and get some momentum. Season One (like the first book) had the advantage of being able to start small and built the stakes up as the season progressed, but ensuing seasons have to start where the previous one left off, and that precludes starting small since so much has happened, so it takes a little longer to get it all going again in the new seasons to the point where the ante is starting to be raised and the whole thing running smoothly as it moves along towards the season climax.
It's good (not great) hard(ish) sci-fi with strong characters that grow and develop as the story moves along and enough thematic underpinning to give the audience something to dig in to, making it an overall engrossing show that keeps me hooked.

I've been really enjoying watching some old Starsky & Hutch lately, which they're showing on ForcesTV over here in the UK. I used to absolutely love this show as a little kid, back in the late '70s. I even had the Corgi toy Gran Torino... I've been re-watching the show with my wife, who -- being 10 years younger than me -- had never seen it before. She only knew of Starsky & Hutch from the awful remake movie of a decade or so ago. She's been really enjoying it though and, I must say, Starsky & Hutch really does hold up well to modern eyes, with several episodes being quite progressive for a mid-to-late 70s cop show. It's a gritty programme at times, and isn't afraid to tackle the big questions, but the grittiness is balanced by some genuinely funny humour. Of course, the undeniable chemistry between Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul in the title roles is a big part of why the show works so well, but the scripting is really top notch too. All in all, I'm really pleased to be getting reacquainted with Zebra Three and the big striped tomato.

Season 4 of Better Call Saul is off to a pretty good start and {Spoiler: Click to show}it's cool seeing more familiar faces from Breaking Bad show up. Bojack Horseman debuts on Comedy Central in September! I've only watched the first 2 seasons but am looking forward to revisiting them. I've read mixed reviews about Disenchantment but haven't gotten to check it out yet...
