So NBC has been re-airing old episodes of Saturday Night Live around the 9 o clock hour and last night they had one from 2006. Almost choked from laughter at the Baby Toupees

On Netflix’ new athletic game show “Floor Is Lava,” the first episode has a competitor nicknamed “Talia Ghul.” Somebody likes Bronze Age Batman apparently.

CBR reporting Stargirl has been picked up for a 2nd season and moving from the internet DCUniverse and being a CW exclusive series as part of the "official" Arrowverse even though Stargirl plays out on Earth 2 not the Arrowverse Earth Prime. Still no word on if CW will green light the sequel for Ollie's daughter in the Arrow/Canary series.

Curious about anyone's take on "The Fall," featuring Gillian Anderson of "X-Files" fame.
(Not that I ever watched even a second of the latter.)
Also, anyone's take on "Shetland"?
Or "The Missing "(as it was known for two seasons) and the third season, called "Baptiste."

Haven't seen The Fall, but have been thinking about trying it, as it's had pretty good word of mouth reports. I thought Anderson was great in The X-Files - which I'm surprised you haven't ever seen! Shetland, I've seen the first story, which was I think 2 or 3 episodes. I liked it. The setting is one of the things that makes it stand out to me from the average detective show, as there are a lot of parallels with where I'm from myself and especially the smaller communities my parents were from, respectively, that I also saw a lot of, growing up. Haven't seen Missing/Baptiste but have thought of giving it a look after hearing someone hear praise it pretty highly.
(edit:) I must be mis-remembering about hearing Baptiste spoken of favourably here because after a search all I can find is a brief mention with no comment, positive or negative. My guess is that I must have looked it up online myself after hearing the title and then seen something that made me think I might want to try it.

Their only exclusive is Titans, and they don't have any of the live action stuff from this century. Like The Snyder Cut going to HBOMax is baffling.

Curious about anyone's take on "The Fall," featuring Gillian Anderson of "X-Files" fame. I've seen some episodes on TV. It didn't interest me enough to seek it out in digital form, but I liked Anderson much more than what I dimply recalled from her "X-Files" years. She captivated me already in "Hannibal", with that silk voice of hers.

Dark season 3 brings the series to a breathtaking conclusion, and the whole thing turned out to be the best SF story I came across in a very long while. It's impressive how this very tangled web of time travel, causality loops, parallel worlds and Schroedinger cats does not tie itself into a knot (that's a Dark pun, by the way) and actually pulls off its ambitious gamble. You might need some kind of score card, though... There is a very large cast of characters, none of which is unimportant, and they all exist in multiple versions (temporal ones in different decades as well as dimensional ones, as we deal with multiple Earths). Also, many of these characters are related, and it's sometimes hard to remember if thisdude is that guy's father, that girl's grandfather, or that lady's lover, or all three at once. But it never gets boring nor tedious. Excellent use of the time travel concept, main characters you care for, supporting characters you also care for, and something all too rare in all of genre fiction: {Spoiler: Click to show} there isn't actually a villain in this story. Honestly. All the horrible things that we see some characters do are eventually understandable once put in context, and are not performed out of malice. I loved the ending. In terms of satisfaction, it's like the Bizarro Game of Thrones.

They've got "Throw Mama From The Train" for free on Youtube, so I watched that. Really good little movie, Devito always does great work as a director that seemingly goes unrecognized aside from maybe Matilda

Trying not to read or hear too much about Dark before I start watching it myself. Good to see some German shows gaining some international attention the last few years. For a long time I wondered if there were any good ones with English subtitles as I was seeing or hearing about lots of stuff from the rest of Europe but not from there, which seemed odd considering it's one of the biggest and most important European conutries.

Dark season 3 brings the series to a breathtaking conclusion I have this one on wait, I don't know if binge watching the whole series would be better. Did you have trouble remembering where all the moving parts were?

Did you have trouble remembering where all the moving parts were? Yes, I must admit... from one season to the next, because of the necessary production delays, I was really grateful for the internet! However I think you're right: binge watching is the way to go with that type of story.

The original Karate Kid from 1984. It'd always been one of those movies that I'd heard about but unfortunately never got a chance to see. I do vaguely recall watching The Next Karate Kid with Hillary Swank on ABC Family or Disney Channel some years ago

The Netflix miniseries with Sigmund Freud was a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it, and it's not overlong. Not historically accurate, of course... but entertaining fiction!
