Would The Bletchley Circle fit the bill, becca? I recall really enjoying it, and don't recall anything too objectionable.

Maybe, it depends too on what I can stream. Foyle's War I already had almost the entire collection on DVD. I have the old Upstairs-Downstairs on DVD but that one my Dad would fall asleep during most of.

For those interested: our pal Svengoolie this Saturday September 12th will be showing the Stuart Whitman, Rory Calhoun, Janet Leigh and DeForest Kelly movie classic Night of the Lepus! Put on your bunny slippers and tune in with your rabbit ears and drink up a carrot smoothie! I am sure Confessor will be watching his Terran brethren running rampant and delivering giant sized pellets of devastation upon the Arizona countryside! A late night favorite so tune in folks...

Re-watched the first series of The Bletchley Circle. Still very enjoyable, but I did notice an odd jump in the story between the first and second episodes. It's not a plot hole, but it does feel like they glossed over a good bit of stuff.
Started The Expanse Monday evening and I'm already up to the sixth episode, which is saying something as I usually don't finish that many episodes in a week.

You're off to a good start. Seasons 2 & 3 were the ones I enjoyed the most (apart from the end of season 1). Season 4 feels out of touch with the core of the series, which for me always was the colonization of the solar system.

I like how the storylines all feel different from each one another and are strong enough to carry a series on their own, but it also doesn't feel like a bunch of story ideas thrown together/all over the place. I never get tired of one storyline or get confused, which is usually the case in such shows with much less ambition.

YouTube posting and confirming the upcoming Supergirl Season 6 will be the series final season. Benoist posted on Twitter needs to be a mom now. Rampant thoughts from all over on if/how affects Supergirl character for/if future appearance/crossover as well what it means for other characters and the actors in show.
What gonna happen to Martian Manhunter. Brainy, the Luthor's, etc. Will they move them into Lois and Superman or Flash or to Legends of Tomorrow? Will Kara pop in/out guest appearances? Welcome to the new CWverse boys and girls.

Re-watching the Ric Burns five part documentary series on New York City with my folks the last few times. This was made over twenty years ago now I think, narrated by David Ogden-Stiers, and they are both really into it. Episode one had a lot on the Erie canal and episode two had a lot about Central Park's creation which my Dd was well into, and the draft riots of 1863 made my Mom say how history rhymes with things we see in the news these days. The bad old days are behind going into episode three though which is the stuff I'm looking forward to. I've always imagined all the shows and clubs you could go to in the jazz age '20s-'30s, and there was radio, great newspapers and magazines, plus films were made in NY as well. Lots of interesting stuff happening with all kinds of artists and authors.

Welcome to the new CWverse boys and girls. It's one of the few modern series I've stuck with and it feels like it's natural course has run. The only other DC/CW series I've followed was the first season of Legends Of Tomorrow and not quite all of one of Black Lightning. I'll probably keep watching Doom Patrol though if those people keep making it.

I have been getting DVD seasons on Black Friday for $10 of Flash and Legends. Just finished season 2 of Legends and really enjoyed it! Great ensemble cast and fun seeing how they adapt various characters which might not be ever seen on television or movies. The way Reverse Flash and the other villains team up for a "Legion of Doom" jumping through time to collect pieces of the Spear of Destiny while showing us JSA? Fun and very entertaining. And Mick Rory (Heatwave) is just superb as the team's resident bad boy. 2 more seasons of Legend to go and cant wait to binge on the 5 seasons of Flash. Totally love Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol. Waiting on season 2 of DP to hit DVD and great to hear season 3 approved!

Season 4 feels out of touch with the core of the series, which for me always was the colonization of the solar system. I'm now about halfway through the second season. I thought I'd lose interest as it focused less on Miller, the detective angle being a big draw for me, but my enjoyment is definitely still trending up despite the move away from it.

I saw 'Do The Right Thing' on the on-demand menu and it felt like a good time to see this movie (oops, 'joint') again. I'd only seen it before back at the time. Still multi-layered and in my opinion a great movie, not easy or feel good, but well done. Oh, and it got me digging out my Steel Pulse CDs this morning!

Got something of an itch to re-watch Red Dwarf from the beginning. Remember watching it a scant few times on PBS way back when. And this might be me, but I kind of prefer seasons 1 and 2 to anything else that came afterwards mostly because it felt too gimmicky. There's just something about the idea of "the odd couple in space" that I just love
Also, that opening theme is lovely and ominous. Reminds me of the one for the BBC's adaptation Hitchiker's Guide, Journey Of The Sorcerer by The Eagles

Same here. I had much the same experience as you with Red Dwarf except that I've probably seen even less of it than you have: I remember back in the early 90s, when it was on one of the local channels, every time I tried to watch an episode it seemed to end up being one of the handful I'd already seen, so I never did really get into to it or develop any feeling for the series, the characters, the whole set-up, etc. So I want to try it from the beginning, which I'll probably do some time in the next few months, along with reading some late-80s comics as well that I missed at the time, and maybe a couple novels. For now, I'm still catching up on some early 80s SF that I missed - Blake's 7 and Sapphire & Steel (along with some 2000 AD collections in comics).
