@bert , agree re Dexter. We just knocked off the first three episodes and it is much better than the reviews led me to think it would be. So far so good. They've got Dexter back up on the shark, anyway. Now to see if they can get him back on dry land. it will start to "tread water" a little bit in episode 5 and really drag things out a little bit. . before picking back up in a great way in episode 7. now, again. . they really need to stick that landing next week in episode 10

So. . does "Dexter: New Blood" stick the landing?
(NO SPOILERS since it doesn't air on Showtime until tonight - I just watched on demand)
Not exactly, but close enough. the Season was really ~2 episodes too long, where it was just treading water, and really should have been only 8 episodes instead of 10.
but this is how a Season Finale should be done, and is a million times better than the original Dexter season finale - offering not only answers, but some resolutions, and a catharsis for the viewers.
so.. overall? Very good, and I'll give the season overall an B+ (only missing an A because of the treading water "filler" episodes).
Recommended if you were a fan of the original series.

Strange that no one in my feed has been talking about "Superman & Lois" I mean..yeah, I'm still not really feeling the Lana storyline (even tho it's different this season), and I can take or leave the Lois/Lucy storyline - tho I have no idea whom this villain is (and I feel like I SHOULD recognize her).
but man. .that bait & switch as to what/who was in the mines?
LOVING IT. . and 100% here for it. so are folks still watching? it's a great show.

When we had to clear some stuff off the DVR, it was one of the things that got deleted, with the thought of, oh we can catch up when we need to through streaming. We haven't. It was the same with all the CW shows for us. We never made the decision to stop watching them, we just sort of never got around to actually watching them, and wound up clearing them off the DVR and stopped recording them. I have several seasons of them on DVD/Bluray, access to most of them via streaming, yet never seem to make time to watch any of them. I like them, just not enough to make them a priority over other things I want to watch or do. -M

"Superman and Lois" is a really good show.
I'd say it's the best of the CW shows (tho I'm really enjoying "Naomi" thus far too).

"Superman and Lois" is a really good show. I'd say it's the best of the CW shows (tho I'm really enjoying "Naomi" thus far too). I enjoyed them. I just don't watch a lot of television on my own anymore, or any genre. Pretty much the only TV I watch now are the shows Mrs MRP wants to watch together, which is usually the Star Wars and Marvel shows on Disney+ and Critical Role and the Legend of Vox Machina. I did watch Wheel of Time and didn't really enjoy it, even though I wanted to and adore the property. We did watch the first episode or 2 of Naomi, and it was also a matter of this is just going to pile up on the DVR, so let's just watch it on streaming when we want to. But it's not just TV, it's movies too, my DVR is filled with movies I recorded going back nearly 2 years. I wan to see them all, I just never get around to making time to watch them, even though I have plenty of time I could. I just choose other things to spend my time doing. About the only things I watch with any regularity these days without Mrs. MRP is D&D related content on youtube, where I will usually watch a half hour of content while eating lunch or have a streamed D&D session on while I do chores around the house and don't need to give it my full attention. I just don't derive much pleasure or satisfaction just sitting and watching stuff by myself, and there's only so many hours in a week that my wife and I can spend just sitting and watching TV, so I don't actually get around to watching a lot of stuff that in years past I would have loyally followed. It's not a matter of quality, it's more of a matter of a glut of content vs. the time I am willing to spend in front of the TV screen, and then how I choose to prioritize what I watch when I do choose to spend time watching alone. I know there's a lot of great content out there I might miss out on, but frankly it would bother me more to miss out on the other things I would have to give up to watch more TV. It might have to do with adopting the idea when I was in grad school while teaching full time and working two other part time jobs that watching TV was wasting time I needed elsewhere. It was ok if it was social time spent with friends, but just watching TV by myself was a waste of time no matter how much I enjoyed the content. I finished that part of my life and moved on, but that particular attitude seems to have stayed with me in some form and resurfaced in spades over the last 4-5 years. -M

And as stated before, I'm even more charitably disposed toward the Lana sub-plot than you are. (And yeah, the mine thing was pretty friggin' cool.)

I agree Superman & Lois is awesome. One of my favorite super hero TV shows ever. I also just watched Reacher on Amazon and loved it. Really close to bringing the books alive.

The idea of a sequel to Vikings was not one that would have thrilled me, as I thought the original series had been a little overlong (like, say, X-Files after the fourth season).
But I must admit that jumping 100 years into the future and addressing the discovery of America has me intrigued!
I just could do without the CGI seascapes. Ugh.

Just finished binge watching Reacher on Amazon Prime and enjoyed it. Much better adaptation of the Lee Childs books than the Tom Cruise version. Season 1 is a pretty accurate version of the book The Killing Floor.

Still debating whether I want to try the books before watching the show ... but I have such a back-log of both tv series and books that it's a toss-up which I'll get to first.

Just finished the final season of The Last Kingdom. Note to the Game of thrones people: that's how you bring a multi-season epic to an end.

Watched the fourth season of Stranger Things this week.
At this point, I've pretty much landed in the camp that believes the show should've been either a one-season miniseries or an anthology series. I've been gradually moving towards that position since Season 3; the bloated, disconnected storylines of this season combined with the Vecna retcons clinched the deal.
I'll probably see the final season once it arrives; the show's still watchable, and I've made it this far, so I may as well. But the magic's not really there anymore.

I was elated to know my favourite series on HBO Max, Warrior, has started production on Season 3.

I have to say I thought season 4 for Stranger Things was amazingly good. Season 2 was the weak link for me. The series rallied again after that and this latest season really felt like an epic tour de force -- something the longer running times of some episodes really helped. The season finale was very satisfying and has left the central cast and the town of Hawkins in a very interesting (and unexpected) place. I'm really curious to see where they go from here. Stranger Things is simply the best piece of American fantasy/sci-fi television for years.
