Just saw an article on Nerdist stating all of the Marvel shows (DD, Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Punisher, Defenders) are leaving Netflix March 1. They may wind up on another streaming service eventually (Hulu?) bit no announcement has been made. If, like me, you have been putting off finishing these, you might want to get on it. I've only seen DD and Jessica Jones season 1 and part of DD season 2. My wife has watched them all, but I just don't spend that much time in front of the TV. I do want to try to finish at least some of these before they go.

Whoa, that's a surprise. While I know the rights for the characters have gone back to Marvel, I thought Netflix owned the rights to the shows in full. Usually when shows leave, it's because there was a licensing deal that expired. But since Netflix owns those shows. I had assumed they were staying on Netflix in perpetuity. After all, it doesn't cost them anything to make the shows available. I can't see them pulling those shows off the service (especially now with Daredevil having a resurgence due to No Way Home -- everytime I load up Netflix it says DD is trending) unless there was some deal made that transferred ownership of the shows to someone else.
I hope they find a home somewhere else. I consider the Netflix Daredevil show to be the best thing Marvel has done in live action.

Considering the runaway success of the Disney+ Marvel shows, I'm confident Disney paid Netflix a handsome sum to surrender the rights to the only streaming Marvel shows that they don't control.

That's my hunch as well. To be honest, I was a little surprised that Disney actually waited the two years for the character licensing rights to revert back to them rather than handing over a pile of cash for Netflix to waive the waiting period. With the way Disney has been buying up franchises and studios left and right over the past ten years, I figured the fee to get those characters back immediately would have been small potatoes compared to buying Lucasfilm or acquiring Fox. I'm still not convinced that Disney doesn't have a plan to buy Sony someday just so they don't have to negotiate with them anymore when it comes to Spider-Man.

I doubt any of the shows will show up on Disney+ though (especially not Punisher). It's a little more violent than the standard PG-13 limits of D+. So I'd guess Hulu as their ultimate destination, since that is where Disney has placed all the "R" rated material it has acquired for streaming since it is under the Mouse's corporate umbrella and part of the D+ bundle offered. If you look at the X-Men movies as a tamplate-all the X-moves except Logan and Deadpool wound up on D+. Those two didn't because of the rating.

Do I have to binge the rest of SHIELD? I guess I might as well give up on Jessica Jones.

It appears that The Netflix universe of characters have " broken through" to the Disney side with the appearances of Daredevil and Kingpin in the MCU.

My younger daughter finished it first and loved it, and my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it when we finally got around to watching it ourselves. If you're speaking of the last season of JJ, yeah, you might be alone in that. It was OK, but nothing like the first one. I still need to watch DD S3, the last two eps of Luke Cage S2, and I haven't gone anywhere near the second seasons of either Punisher or Iron Fist, nor do I plan to.

I mean, is Agents of SHIELD leaving? It wasn't mentioned in the original post.

I actually did enjoy JJ season 3, but was indeed talking about AoS. Apart from Iron Fist, Inhumans and Defenders, I think the Marvel shows were all pretty good. None gave me the impression that they had jumped the shark. I hope Disney decides to build on those versions of the characters instead of rebooting them.

Despite liking the earlier seasons, I was underwhelmed when I started JJ S2. I eventually got back to it and finished it. Then, I stopped Luke Cage S2 after 4 episodes. Just started episode 5 today, but skipping over to DD S3 rather than going in order. I'm thinking that DD S3 and JJ S3 would be the ones I'd most like to see before time runs out.
