We all know them...the costume designs that make you go "hmmm." A thread to celebrate the gaudy, the weird, the infamous, and the just plain wrong. I'll start with a Legion classic...Cosmic Boy's 70's "corset" outfit:

I like the first two Wonderman costumes - the orignal and the George Perez.
The Doctor Strange one I think looks really cool in itself but is all wrong for the character - it makes him look just as eerie and alien as the other-dimensional entities against which he is supposed to be defending humanity and the earth - as if they had ret-conned him to be the son of Dormammu or something (surprised they haven't done something like this, now I think of it).
I also rate highly another one often ridiculed by fans, Moondragon's old green swimsuit + cape design. And Valkyrie's original costume with the "cosmic eggcups", as a letter-writer once called them jeeringly - I think that's one of the best in superhero comics.

Moondragon's costume was okay but I prefer the black & white one she wore in New Defenders.

Going back to the well with the Legion again, I present Laurel Kent:

I'll start with a Legion classic...Cosmic Boy's 70's "corset" outfit: The sad thing is, it's actually quite graphically striking. If only he wasn't nekkid under it... like if the design was part of a full body suit (preferrably not flesh colored, either). It's funny JUST LAST NIGHT, I read one of those era's stories, where someone referred to him as "Pinky", as if the writer thought he was still wearing a pink suit, with the black designs on it (as it used to be, and would soon be changed back to). But that change wouldn't happen for another 10-15 issues.

I actually totally agree with you, even though I have to poke some fun here (I did like when he switched to the later outfit you posted, black/pink is a great color combo). I also look at it this way...if characters like Saturn Girl were going to be given much more revealing outfits, only fair it was equitable from a gender standpoint!

ALSO just last night, there was a full body shot of Saturn Girl from the back, and it was all thigh-high boots, hi-cut bikini, bra strap, and that's it! The finest in hooker attire. You've gotta love Dave Cockrum's costume designs, but that one really violates some moral standards... approved by the comics code, tho.
