This is probably at a circus or a zoo, so it could be just about any comic. Although I'm guessing that it's from 1955 to 1965. Possibly Charlton? Look at how clumsily drawn that lion is, with an unhinged jaw like a boa constrictor.

It's NOT a jungle comic. In fact, calling it a lion is perhaps a bit of a stretch...

Sci fi, yes. Not a bear. Mostly a lion I don't recognise the cover, but "mostly a lion" makes me think it might be one of those composite mythological monsters, like the Griffin or the Chimera, or a character based on them. I forget which of those had a lion's head or body or whatever. Wait, there was a Marvel super-villain called the Griffin, wasn't there? The image doesn't look the way I remember that character, though, so probably not a clue.

By 'mostly a lion' it's sorta a space lion.
The comic is not very well known series of an iconic character.

Neither DC's Weird Worlds, nor Dell's Four color, nor The Funnies. (Nor Tarzan family, for that matter, but we're not supposed to look at jungle books). Like George Washington's tree, I'm stumped!

You Got it! I thought this was a really intriguing cover... anyone ever read them? After that long struggle to get it, that lets curl up with a good book.

You Got it! I thought this was a really intriguing cover... anyone ever read them? Oh, the agony! That's exactly what I was looking for in the Dell Four color comics. I didn't know these books had been reprinted!!! As for the stories, they're okay... Not as good as the DC or Marvel ones, but not as bad as I feared (and they're large;y inspired by the Burroughs first three books). The artwork is pretty unexciting but some designs are exotically interesting.
