Hoosier, you are racking up some nice Batman's lately. I'm going to take a break for a few weeks. When I get the current outstanding shipment, I'll only have Detective #394, #395, #397, #405 and #415 to go and Ill have every issue from #390 on. That #410, I can see why it's such a sought-after issue. I think it might be Neal Adams's best work. Denny O'Neil does a pretty good job as well. And the Batgirl story (Frank Robbins and Don Heck) is Bronze age Bonkers!

My latest batch of Detective Comics arrived today. Hopefully, I'll have time to make a few comments about them on the Batman Appreciation Thread this weekend.

On a recommendation from tingramretro, this Captain Britain collection turned up in today's post. This hardcover features pretty much all of Alan Moore's run on the series. Looking forward to getting stuck into it.

I might be late to the party but I discovered instocktrades and ordered two Epic Marvel collections and they both were 20 dollars. Ebay wanted a lot more.

I ordered this a few nights ago: When it arrives, I'll have every issue of Detective from #398 on, except #405. Because it was a large seller with a lot of recent comics, I was also able to get Providence #1 and #2 (still missing #5 and I hear #12 is supposed to ship April 5) and I got a few of the later issues of New 52 Birds of Prey pretty cheap.

Yesterday while at the comic book shop I did my usual back issue buys since a sale was still going on. 17 for 20 bucks.
One of the old back issues is good old Uncanny X Men 150 where Magneto was really psycho by killing an entire Russian crew in a submarine. That and some old Batman stuff including part one of the Penguin affair story arc

most of John Byrne's West Coast Avengers, and an issue of his Namor that I was missing bunch of Alan Moore Swamp Thing (one issue guides at around $20!) assorted Wolfman Teen Titans some issues from the end of the first Micronauts run a two-part Legends of the Dark Knight story drawn by P. Craig Russell

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it, Confessor. At first glance, the artwork and lettering looks very familiar from Alan Davis's work on stories like "Rust Never Sleeps" or "Dark Knight's Devilry" in The Empire Strikes Back Monthly.

The Captain Britain stuff was actually slightly earlier, almost his first published work. Davis didn't realize artists drew at a larger size than the printed product, so he actually drew his early stuff at roughly A4 size.

I read the first four issues worth last night (the last two parts from Marvel Super-Heroes and the first two from Daredevils) and really enjoyed it. It feels very much like early Alan Moore -- parts of it seem a bit bonkers and very much not like a traditional Marvel superhero comic -- but it's very well written and very enjoyable. Other than the two issues of Marvel Team-Up in which Captain Britain met Spider-Man, I think this is the first Captain Britain stuff I've ever really read. Colour me impressed.

One of the things I really liked about Moore's first few issues was how much of the early stuff from the Captain's original run he referenced. It's very non traditional, as you say, but he still leaves us in no doubt that this is the same character in the same continuity as those early tales I've been reviewing lately.
