In terms of the stories, how is that volume Icctrombone? Only Thor I have read has been Simonson's run, a smattering of older 70s issues and Aaron's series from a few years ago now. I've read that entire run and it's pretty solid throughout. Later in the series, there is some interesting stuff on the nature of faith, Thor's divinity, and whether there is God in the MU. It's a little deeper than most Big Two superhero fare.

I picked up a couple of modern collections of classic books this week. At the lcs on Thursday, I snagged Orion by Walt Simonson Vol. 1... and today at HPB, I picked up Vol. 1 and 2 of Jason Lutes' Berlin. I had owned vol. 1 previously, but lent it out years ago and never got it back. I never had a chance to read Vol. 2. I was reminded of how much I loved this series when I picked up and read the FCBD issue this past May, and have been looking for them since. I ran into them today, so grabbed both volumes. -M

These new tpb editions are actually the second time it's been collected; an omnibus was also published a few years ago (that was my big purchase for that year):

These new tpb editions are actually the second time it's been collected; an omnibus was also published a few years ago (that was my big purchase for that year): Walt himself was a bit unhappy with the omnibus because of the way it collected the back ups (separating them from the main story and lumping them all together at the end). The trades go back to having the back ups after the main story of the issue they appeared in, as Walt designed the back ups to give context to those stories and be read with them, so he is much happier with the organization of the trades than he was with the omnibus. I thought about getting the omnibus, but then I saw what Walt posted about the formatting of them, I decided to hold off and then got the trades instead. -M

Part of my birthday haul included the second volume of the Silver Age Flash (and Darwyn Cooke's last Parker adaptation, not classic by yers but definitely a classic) -M

I have to stop after this, but just copped Defenders #51-60 (#57 is the Dave Cockrum issue and has Ms. Marvel guesting) and another '70s Thor just 'cause. Going to have to pass on the John Carters and anything else for awhile however, have to pay the card off again!

I had to drive a couple of hours to pick up my daughter from summer camp yesterday, which gave me the opportunity to stop by a little hobby shop that I only get to visit once or twice a year. They have a decent selection of back issues, and I was able to pick up the following from the $1 bins (no pictures):
Dead of Night #8 Dazzler #13 (versus the Grapplers at Ryker's Island; I don't think I've ever seen this book before, and I love the Grapplers) The Night Nurse reprint collection from 2016 (this contains the four issues of the original NN series and DD #80 from the 1998 series. Couldn't pass this up for $1)
Also, grabbed another Ghost Rider #82 for resale. This issue has Devil Dinosaur, Moon Boy, and Howard the Duck, and copies of it have sold for upwards of $5 on eBay within the past couple of months, so I can possibly make a little profit to cover the other books I bought.

Went to a local show in NJ and picked up a few books. These are the highlights. These two Deathstroke books places me a bit closer to rebuying the run I sold about 15 years ago. I picked up this Fury Max series for a quarter each.

I was surprised to find these Planetary for 50 cents each. I'm missing 3 to complete the 27 issue series.

Some more Superman books to add to my various runs. At the show I saw the writer of this book at a table selling her work. I asked her about this book and she told me it was a collection of stories about David Bowies songs. I sprung 20 bucks and even got her to sign it.
