Scored today at another yard sale. Around 200 comics. Highlights included a Gold Key Star Trek #1, a Doom Patrol #99 and Strange Tales #163. There were a lot of non-superhero stuff (Disney Donald Duck, a bunch of Gold Key stuff like Space Family Robinson and Magnus Robot Fighter, a ton of Archie). I figure I can sell a few things to go towards a grail before year's end.

Picked up some books while on the trip back form VT at a little shop called Actiontoyman in Erie, PA I have mentioned in other posts (it's 3 stories of toys and comics, well worth checking out if you are in the area). I picked up the following there, all from their dollar boxes... issues 2-6 of All Out War and 3 of the last 10 issues of Sandman Mystery Theatre series (the last 10 issues of that book are hard to find and are often pricey when I do see them, I had no trouble getting the first 60 issues of the run, the last 10 have not been so easy to get, so I was psyched to find 3 of the ones I still needed) a pair of Gargoyle comics I am trying to track these down for my wife who is a huge Grgoyles fan) and four issues of the DC AD&D comic (bringing me fairly close to having the whole run) In an indy book store in Burlingotn VT called Phoenix book I picked up these two books... and I had posted about getting some books at Comic Heaven in Willoughby, OH on the way out to VT, but here are some pics of what I got there... also shown in the last pic is a copy of Seven Days, a free regional newspaper I picked up at out hotel in VT that had a very goof article on cartoonist Jason Lutes and his series Berlin I have posted baout before, set in the days of the Weimar Republic. Nice to see comic coverage get some love in a regional tourism/social activity/things to do kind of newspaper, especially when it's not costumed heroes in movies or on TV being featured. -M

My lcs, Superfly Comics, just celebrated their 11th anniversary and are having 11 flash sales between now and the end of the year to commemorate it. This weekend was one of them, as it wasa BOGO back issue weekend, buy 1 back issue and get one of equal or lesser value for free. I rummaged through some of their long boxes this afternoon and picked up the following: some Ghost Rider issues from the 70s and 90s series. more of the AD&D run of comics... and a few misc. books... my shop is not far from Half Price Books, which is having their annual 20% off everything in the store Labor Day sale, so we stopped in and I picked up the following: from the $1 bins... a few magazine issues and GNs... and a copy of American Barbarian by Tom Scioli that I have heard/read good things about... -M

Apparently your wife has no problem with that role, however, and for the record, my wife would have pointed it out to me if I'd made the same error.

haven't posted in ages, but my foray into slabs got to be too pricey, and i got all the keys i wanted anyway (except keys i'll never own such as hulk #1), so now i'm trying to get every issue of doom patrol from my greatest adventure #80 through the way series. i already have mga #80 and doom patrol #99 from buying slabs, so the two priciest are taken care of (though, i'll probably buy any dp #99 i come across if the price is right). just grabbed #87-90 and #107-118 of the first series today. no pics yet, as they were ebay purchases. may have paid a bit of a premium, but i was excited to get started and there is only one shop within 100 miles of me (and i've dug through their silver back issues) so hunting isn't as easy.
