I really dig these late '70s Charlton reprints of Steve Ditko Captain Atom. I hope they weren't edited, or not too much. I only ever had one Strange Suspense Stories from the mid-60s and a Modern Comics reprint... Captain Atom seemed a really difficult title to collect! These are Space Adventures vol. 2 #9-12. Now two notables of the Golden Age/Earth 2 characters in '70s DCs; All Star Comics #58 introducing Power Girl (the Earth 2 Supergirl) picking up the numbering from the Golden Age title (and as if All Star Western had never happened), and DC Super Stars #17 with the origin of The Huntress (the Earth 2 Batgirl). There was a villainess named The Huntress on Earth 2 and there is some tie-in with her but I forget as I'm waiting until I have All Star #69 & 70 to read the three together). Thanks to Paste Pot Paul for the All Star! The Super-Stars I snagged very reasonably, perhaps because it was listed as Super-Satrs. This may be the only time that mis-titling has actually helped me, though I'd heard about it before. Also listed as VG but it's what a lot of others sell as VF

beccabear67 -- Nice going getting the Green Lantern - DC Specials; I'm flattered that you got them and a great pickup as well and done by Mike Grell.

She appears in All-Star #72 and 73, fighting Helena Wayne for the right to use the name Huntress, ala Power Man ove in Marvel. I've got the TPB collecting these, though i also have the back issue of All Star Comics #58.

I'll probably have to try and get those last All Stars eventually and maybe the three Showcases with Power Girl. One interesting thing, in the Showcase letter column they mention The Huntress would follow Power Girl in that title, but it was cancelled before that... what became of any Huntress stories prepared for Showcase? I'm pretty sure I read the old baddie Power Man vs. new good Power Man sequence once, which is surprising to me, I never was able to find a lot of Power Man comics (still wish I could get #48-50 most). Maybe it happened in a Defenders or Avengers though?

The initial stories by Paul Levitz were collected in the long-out of print, yet still reasonably-priced Huntress: Dark Knight Daughter TPB, along with her origin from DC Super-Stars and her Batman Family appearances.

Half Price Books had their 50% off coupon sale today,we stopped at a couple different branches, and with the coupon I paid a whopping $2.50 for this... pardon the stock photo from Lonestar, my wife just left to do an overnight sleep study and has the phone/camera with her so can't take pics until she gets back tomorrow morning. Also picked up the following out of their $1 bins... Sun Runners #2, 3 House of Mystery 273, 276, 289, 295 Doctor Fate 17 Spelljammer 3-6, 9, 19 Doctor Who (Marvel) 9 plus a couple vintage paper backs ($3 each): Thongor and the Wizard of Lemuria by Lin Carter Gateway by Frederik Pohl The Executioner Book 1 War Against the Mafia by Don Pendleton I also grabbed 2 modern trades: Mind MGMT by Matt Kindt Vol 5 HC ($5 w/coupon) Curse Words Vol. 1 by Charles Soule & Ryan Browne ($5) -M

I said I was done but picked up All Star Comics #71-74 at around $2 a piece to finish that run, couldn't resist at that price... and bagged three Modern Comics reprints of '60s Ditko Captain Atom with Blue Beetle backing stories. I'd been looking for a long while, I always have to try and find situations where I can get a bunch of stuff all from the same person due to the postage. Now I've got something else to look forward to, but seriously, got to close the door with these.

A friend wanted to meet at a small show at a VFW this morning. I wasn’t really looking for anything, but picked up some things from a dollar box. I never heard of Dunc and Loo before and I must admit, I don't really like the style of cartooning on the cover, but that's a great gag.

... also won a Frazetta art book I didn't have in the Lonestar auction last night... -M
Very nice book. They chose the cover painting wisely, one of Frazetta's best, I've always thought.

It dawned on me this morning that once again I've let more than a week pass without posting what I got at a convention, in this case the Jet City Comic Show raw cheer in Tacoma the Saturday before last. I had a decent budget ($80, plus $25 credit Randy of Randy's Readers for the duplicates I bought from him at Emerald City) but didn't spend anywhere close to all of it despite willingly ponying up for several books priced higher than my standard $1 per comic limit. Anyhoo, here's my haul:
DC
Arak 27 Batman 355, 384, 399, Annual 5 -- I paid a whopping $5 for the Annual because I knew I'd never find another copy that nice for that price Batman Family 18-19 -- Two of the four issues running the Huntress stories originally slated for Showcase (Hi, becca!) DC Comics Presents 42 Detective 509, 528, 521, 549 Justice Inc. 3-4 -- This completes my run. JLA 155
Marvel
Amazing Spider-Man Annual 10-11 Astonishing Tales 35-36 Avengers 47 -- From the '90s Busiek run. Unfortunately, I already had it but hey, better one duplicate than 26 like last time! Captain America Annual 4 Conan Annual 2 Fantastic Four Annual 7, 12-13 Fear 30 Giant-Size Super-Heroes 1 -- I've wanted to own this one again for a while: Spidey vs. Morbius and Man-Wolf as drawn by Gil Kane. Invaders 6, 9-10, 12-13, 23, 27, 31, 35-36, 38 -- Less than a dozen to go to finish this run. Micronauts 43-45, 47 -- Ditto. Micronauts: The New Voyages 6-7, 11, 16
But really, the highlight of the show for me was meeting my fellow ACBC author Jason Sacks (he wrote the 1970s and '90s volumes) and comparing notes over an excellent lunch about the triumphs and tribulations of working on that massive series. It turns out that Jason is an old friend of my niece and her husband!
Cei-U! I summon the small world syndrome!

I had Bat Fam #17, eventually will get those and the Showcases with Power Girl I'm sure, probably Batman #300 also. I know my Man Wolf collection is incomplete without Giant-Size Super Heroes #1 but I've just never liked Morbius, but some day maybe. Actually there are the She Hulk and a Spectacular Spider-Man annual appearances I don't have either, sorry Wolfy. Nice list!

I was out in the Village and there is a guy selling books on the street on Broadway near the theater on 14th Street. I picked up the entire run of Black Kiss for $15, which I thought was cool.
