Took a ride out to one of the shops of a dealer I know from the con circuit, but I had never been to the shop before. He had agreed to by the Shogun Warrior I was putting up for sale, and I was driving out to deliver it and collect the $$ (essentially that $$ becomes my war chest for Gem City Comic Con later this month). I was also bringing my old Atari 5200 system, a 2600 Adapter, and a handful of 2600/5200 game cartridges that I was trading for store credit, which I used to pick up a handful of D&D miniatures, one of the new 5E books (Van Richter's Guide to Ravenloft), and the following haul of dollar bin comics... The Millennium Edition of Adventure Comics featuring the first appearance of Starman... ![](https://i.imgur.com/0XRjjWu.jpg) a pair of issues of Alien Encounters off my want list... ![](https://i.imgur.com/n5yoUyB.jpg) The Gemstone reprint of this classic Frazetta cover from Incredible Science Fiction... ![](https://i.imgur.com/JY126OP.jpg) and four more issues of Incredible Science Fiction... ![](https://i.imgur.com/oRPh201.jpg) and four Weird Science Fantasy issues... ![](https://i.imgur.com/Z5tBkuh.jpg) and then I cleared him out of every back issue of Usagi he had in the shop, all from the dollar bins... the Fantagraphics series... ![](https://i.imgur.com/iqUuxJg.jpg) and the Dark Horse series... ![](https://i.imgur.com/KuHJUjW.jpg) he had tons of dollar bins, but my wife was with me so I didn't want to spend all day rooting around through them, but I will head back there at some point (it's about a 40 minute drive, so likely not any time soon though...) -M

Purchased 3 more Amazing Spider-Man CGCs from the run I got in the mail as a youth. I love Ron Frenz so much. Wish he got the recognition and praise he deserves. His work is so darn good ![](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/uLcAAOSw~nxg36E4/s-l1600.jpg) I loved this issue and the one after. Not because Spidey beats up Firelord, but for the fact Firelord is on Earth for one reason: to get a pizza!

His work is so darn good I'd say he's pretty well recognized. The only artist I can think of who's ever been capable of doing convincing impressions of both Ditko and Kirby.

Many other's he can mimic as well. In his commission works seen him ape the Buscema brothers, Heck, Colan, Tuska etc. Frenz is truly talented while not receiving lots of accolades or recognition. Lots of great series work he provided us fans over the years and very glad to having in my collection.

JLA 60 is so nuts! I love it. I got one a few years ago and for a while I was reading it over and over again.

Good variety , cat. Does that Spider-man treasury have any new material? Thanks! The treasury is all reprint stories, there's an intro by Stan Lee on the inside cover and also a 2 page "Daily Bugle newspaper front cover" spread that has articles on the Marvel staff. At the back is also a Larry Lieber pin-up page with Spidey and some other heroes (not sure if that was new or recycled from someplace else).

Strange what you find in charity shops in small town on the west coast of Scotland: a French language reprint of an English book which is one of my favourite comics ever. ![](https://www.bedetheque.com/media/Couvertures/Couv_112181.jpg)

I went a little overboard at the comic show today...
A lot of these are going to the grandkids. There was a guy who had just bought a great underground collection, but nothing was priced yet.

I got that issue of Super Team Family just a few months ago. It’s kind of wonderfully awful.

I got that issue of Super Team Family just a few months ago. It’s kind of wonderfully awful. That issue reads like a classic Dickens novel when compared to the uber-cheezey Dell "monster super hero" titles on the left side of MDG 's photo!
Surely you're keeping that issue of "Halt!" for yourself, MDG?
As dated as it is, I still can't imagine giving that to the grandkids... unless you're looking for provocative questions from them!
