Made another trade with one of the dealers in the Gem City group that I have traded with before. Sent him a couple of Power Record sets (Trek & Hulk) for some stuff he had available. Nothing major, just filling in some holes on some runs. Most were $1-$2 each. Got a bunch of Perez WW, trying to fill in that run for a couple of year now on and off, but decided to give it some attention while George is still with us... I also grabbed a pair of the Jimenez issues as well... A pair of Usagi issues. I hadn't been picking up the IDW reprint series, but I just loved that particular cover, so I grabbed that one when I saw he had it. A handful of Triangle era Supes issues, I grab those when the price is right or to fill out other orders to make shipping more cost efficient, as was the case here. A couple of misc. books-I've owned the annuals a few times but never got around to reading them. Saw then and got the bug to read them finally, so snagged them. and finally some Groo stuff-I only bought the Groo/Tarzan issue, he threw in the rest as a thank you. The Groo/Rufferto is the trade collection. The Magnor stuff features material and covers by Sergio. and a couple of 90s Ghost Rider related issues... -M

My first major comics purchase of 2022. One of the shops in Nashville was having its "45th Anniversary" sale, with 45% off most back issues.
So, unable to resist the siren call of major discounts, I dove into the long boxes like a man possessed. Here's what I came up with-- No keys, but as usual, LOTS of eclectic stuff characteristic of my usual hauls. Everything you see was 45% off of the tagged price-- buckle up-- it's fairly extensive.
Right off the bat, found a copy of Harvey's 1958 Race for the Moon #3, with Kirby-pencilled cover. Also, hard-to-find early pre-code stuff like Avon's U.S. Paratroops from 1952 and Harvey's Kerry Drake, Detective Cases from 1949.
Another Harvey title, Thrill-o-Rama, The Comico Christmas Special w/cover by Dave Stevens, and two reprint editions, Pacific's edition of Planet Comics and an Eclipse Bob Powell one-shot.
Once again, I found a nice trove of Charlton titles across all genres-- I'm still filling lots of holes in these runs, so when I find them, I usually end up buying them. Next, some Marvel oddball goodness-- but I have to point out that the Kid Colt #130 is super-super clean and tight-- squarebound with an almost perfect spine... 8.5+ condition by my guess. I was also glad to find a nice copy of Bob Hope #95, which is toward the end of the run. This features the first appearance of "Super-Hip" and the "Universal Monster" faculty of Benedict Arnold High School! Also, another nice Kirby cover on Weird Wonder Tales #20. I bought much more DC goodness than anything else, continuing to fill holes on certain mega-runs I'm trying to complete-- Was also very please to find some great high-grade copies of Strange Adventures from the early-mid '60s, including a great infinity cover. Of course, there's gotta be some Star-Spangled War Stories in the mix-- got some great Russ Heath Dinosaur covers, and the last cover appearance that I needed of the Enemy Ace run. I even picked up some super-hero stuff this time around-- mainly a couple of really nice B&B issues, and a bunch of Dollar-comic World's Finest issues. Also found a low-grade copy of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis #39. I've been on the lookout for this book ever since the "bagpipes" cover contest a while back. Still looking for a better copy, but this one will do for now. On the other hand, Showcase #72 (another Russ Heath cover) is another high-grade copy.
The copy of Charlton's Three Nurses was not purchased in this sale, but I bought it in a small purchase about 2 weeks ago.
Everything in these two pics was purchased at the same time I bought "Three Nurses"... including two great Carl Barks duck covers.

That issue #36 of The Phantom (the last Phantom book in my post- "The River that Never Ends") does indeed have Aparo artwork not only on the cover, but also inside.
Aparo was the main artist for most issues from #31-#38. Pat Boyette took over after that all the way up to issue #59. After Boyette, it was pretty much a mish-mash until Don Newton showed up toward the end to finish the series.

I put a low bid ($3) on OMAC #1 ... and I won! I should have it in a few days.
I’ve read it before but it’s been a while. One of my friends had it in his little stack of comics. It was the late 1970s. I was like “WHAT EVEN IS THIS?” And he was like “It’s OMAC! You’ll hate it!”
He was right. It took me several decades to come around on OMAC.

Anyone go shopping on Mile High Comics recently? This book in Fine is 167.00 and VF 282.00...what's so hot about it? I got it because it's a nice looking #200 edition
Mine falls somewhere in-between but might nudge VF if I get it pressed... and cost $5.50.

Nothing special about it, it's a system wide sales move by Chuck, you may check this thread. BTW, the success of the campaing is doubtful, considering he's been implementing a permanent 60% discount scheme since... I don't recall, but all year at least.

I have a pretty straight run of Hulk from around 180's ( Not the Wolverine books) til the end in 454. I have thought to sell them but they are not going for enough online to make it worth my wild. I don't want to give them away.

Don't you get it?
It's worth that much because "Chuck said so"...

There's another valuable book in that run you have, where he meets Wolverine again in #340.
So maybe sell off a bundle which includes that one as a cherry.

#228 is also quite sought out, I paid almost a hundred bucks in an eBay auction for a VF+ copy (bought another at 15€, in FN/VFN condition for re-selling), it's still going strong: www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=51167727

So many great comics, tartanphantom!
I would be immobilized with a haul like that because I try to read everything I buy within a day or two.
I recently requested the Showcase reprint of The War that Time Forgot from the library. I should have it in a few days. I’ve only read a few TWTTF segments in my life. I’m looking forward to it.

I never thought any one of them got hot ( except the Wolverine issues. )
