JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind Volumes 1-3 (collecting chapters from 1996-1997 in English)
My interest in Jojo only goes so far as the end of Battle Tendency. I think that Shaman King had a more interesting way of handling stands by actually giving them personality

I like Parts 1 and 2 but they just are not as creative to me as Parts 3 and up. I like Shaman King too, but not as much as JJBA.

I’m on a bit of a Lex Luthor kick lately. I’m reading The Last Son of Krypton, the novel by Elliot S! Maggin. And after I got Action #544 in the mail, I ordered the rest of that particular Luthor story in Superman #385 and #386.
And then I decided I needed my own copy of one of my favorite Luthor stories, which I’ve only read in a reprint from the library. So I should be getting Superman #164 in a few days.

Last Son of Krypton was such a great book. It really deserves a first-rate comics adaptation!

This just arrived in the mail today: Hope that photo conveys what a monster of a book this is: at just over 1,300 pages, it's as heavy as a brick too. Looking forward to finally reading some of this Milestone material, which is something from the 1990s that I regret missing.

Well, it's early April, which means it is time for Eide's Entertainment's annual Anniversary Sale. Eide's is the oldest comic book shop in Pittsburgh, and even though founder and owner Greg Eide passed away last May at the age of 69, two of his long-time employees took over the shop and run it now, allowing it to reach its 50TH YEAR in 2022. Greg was a mainstay in the shop and an all-around great guy, and he is certainly missed in the Pittsburgh comics community. They used to do 40% off all back issues $40 or under, but this year brought something I'd never seen before. Marvel back issues were 30% off, while DC and other publishers were all 50% off. I'm wondering if they realized that Marvel was more in demand and they didn't have to deep discount things to move them, or maybe they aren't getting as many Marvel books in on sale/trade due to the success of the MCU and people holding onto them in hopes they go up in value. Anyway, big discounts all around the store, lots of great stuff to be had, so let's dig in. Picked these up to move me within just two issues of having the whole run of Killraven stories: These finish the run from #12 up. Will go back and pick up the earlier ones if I can find them cheap: Moved closer to completing my Jonah Hex run with these, as I now only need three issues; I know where at least one of them is in the wild, and I will be near that store next week, so I'll be down to two provided it's still there. They had a couple of rows of used hardcovers, so I got these for 50% off cover, then another 50% off that. $10 for the Captain Britain book, $31.25 for the GA Cap Omnibus: The big purchase of the shopping trip was this Doctor Strange Omnibus. I haven't seen it in the wild anywhere else, and as it was 30% off cover, $70 seemed like a pretty good deal on something not readily found elsewhere.

Mostly want it for Hardware. Haven't been too impressed with the revamp of Milestone

As impressive as those huge books are, what's the use of a large amount of content if you can't lift it and read it comfortably. 1300 pages ?

You can never go wrong with Jonah Hex. I didn’t know anything about Jonah Hex until about four years ago, other than there was a poorly-received movie. I picked up the first Showcase Presents collection from Half-Price Books, then got the second one from eBay, and I really liked what I was reading (it also didn’t hurt that the pencils looked spectacular with the black-and-white treatment). I started picking up random issues here and there from $1 bins, then around the beginning of 2021, I realized I had almost 3/4 of the series, paying no more than a dollar for any issue. Since then, I’ve had to pay a little more, never anything exorbitant, for some of the remaining books, although the one book I mentioned above is #92, the final issue, and the shop is asking $8 for it, which will be far more than I’ve paid for any of them previously.

Come on, if it's 2000 pages of Rob Liefeld you are so getting it.

I've been casually working on a run of Bronze Age Jonah Hex for about the last 10 years off and on, but I'm nowhere near as close to completing it as you are. I do have all the important, pricey issues, but I still need roughly about a third of the run to finish it. I have the three Vertigo mini-series too, which I love, and a full run of the Palmiotti and Gray run from the mid-2000s, which is well worth your time checking out if you like Jonah Hex.

I ordered Little Dot #53 from eBay. I should have that in about a week.
Little Dot is my favorite Harvey character. She cracks me up. I figured I should have just one Little Dot issue from the classic period. It’s from 1960.

Is that a normal paper cover? I saw a Witchblade collected like that and was tempted but the cover would be dog-eared to hell and back by the time I finish read it. Prefer a strong hardcover for these type....
