As impressive as those huge books are, what's the use of a large amount of content if you can't lift it and read it comfortably. 1300 pages ?
Come on, if it's 2000 pages of Rob Liefeld you are so getting it.
@rags, you made me spit my coffee all over my iPad this morning… thanks a lot.

Since several people commented &/or asked questions about the Milestone Compendium, I have to say that it may be large and heavy, but it's not at all unwieldy. I've flipped through it a few times already, and it's pretty easy to hold comfortably while sitting down on a sofa or easy-chair (or in bed, for that matter). And yes, it's a soft cover - which probably makes it more affordable. It would probably cost twice as much if it had been printed as a hard-cover omnibus-type book.

They may be playing around with formats to see what customers will go for and pay. My guess is the Milestone stories attract more readers than collectors, so a format less expensive than something people would by as "shelf porn."

My guess is the Milestone stories attract more readers than collectors, so a format less expensive than something people would by as "shelf porn." That's possible. Although 'less expensive' is a relative term for a notorious penny-pincher like me - I only bought this one because, a) it was already being offered at a significantly marked-down price, b) I also had a 10% discount coupon from the vendor (Book Depository) and c) free shipping. So I paid $45 for it total - still a lot for me, but I figured there's little chance of getting a better deal down the road (i.e., even if cheap used copies show up later on ebay or elsewhere, they'll probably only be offered by sellers in the US - so any savings would get killed by shipping costs).
By the way, there's also a similar soft-cover Starman Compendium that was released last summer (and the second volume that completes the series is scheduled for release this summer).

One of the Top 3 Black Widow books in terms of value and scarcity....I didn't mind that this was slabbed, getting it raw is just as much a pain in the arse. It's a scarce variant from the 2010 series and I have 2 copies of the regular cover plus the HC of the entire series.

I guess I meant now a days. I have his full run on Gen 13 and Danger Girl. He started doing just covers after that.

I had the Adrenalynn miniseries which I think was by him also. Sometimes I like his art, sometimes not.

According to Mikes amazing world, he last did interior artwork for a Wildstorm 25 anniversary HC issue in 2017. It was 3 pages long.

According to Mikes amazing world, he last did interior artwork for a Wildstorm 25 anniversary HC issue in 2017. It was 3 pages long. I am not sure he is still doing it, but for a while he was doing bits on the Marvel animated shows on Disney XD and the Disney channel demonstrating how to draw for kids watching the cartoons that was part of a program he was responsible for at Marvel working with young aspiring artists in a number of seminars/workshops, and working with a lot of the designers on the various animated Marvel shows on the model sheets and such Marvel used for studios and advertisers (similar in spirit if not actual output to what Jose Garcia-Lopez did for DC for years), so his day job would pretty much precludes meeting monthly deadlines to get books out, and he never was the fastest artist to begin with. And I am sure his page rates for covers means he doesn't have to do interiors unless he wants to. -M

Campbell's got the same 12 body templates and just inserts whatever female character there, makes 6 variants of each title, sells it as a JSC exclusive on his website; racks in the cash. I wish he was more prolific in doing other things such as interiors but I understand completely. He's a super sweet guy that genuinely makes solid comic covers. I won't fault him for that.
I'm a JSC collector myself

Agreed, if that book was Mary Jane #1 he could use practically the same artwork, pose, and just change her outfit.

Now that I have the taxman behind me and things weren't quite as bad as anticipated, I went to a couple of my favorite shops in Alabama while visiting my Mom for Easter weekend.
Picked up some very nice books, including several black covers in high grade.
First, the Hawkman #26, Marvel Spotlight #1, Atom #23 and Bomba #1 are all at least 9.0+ condition. The Hawkman and the Atom in particular could be higher than that-- they literally look like they just came off the press. The Bomba cover is perhaps one of the BEST Infantino covers I have ever seen.
Also got a Bomba #2, JLA #94, Captain Atom #88 (with a sweet Ditko cover) and Red Wolf #3. All of these are at least 7.0. I now only need issue #2 of Red Wolf to complete the series. The JLA issue is now considered a minor key due to the first appearance of Merilyn.
Picked up four more issues of Unexpected-- leaving me needing only 10 issues to complete the series.
Also added a couple of issues of House of Mystery, featuring Nick Cardy and Neal Adams covers, and another issue of House of Secrets with a great Wrightson cover. I still have a ways to go on completing these series, but I'm getting there.
Last, one more issue of Weird Western featuring Scalphunter-- only 4 issues to go on this one. Another issue of Weird War Tales, and the last two issues that I needed of "The Shadow: Year One".
