I guess I meant now a days. I have his full run on Gen 13 and Danger Girl. He started doing just covers after that. I wonder why that is. Easier gig for the same money.

Easier gig for the same money. Probably for more money. Cover rates are different than interiors. Also he's done a ton of fine arts stuff like doing lithos for Disney and other companies. He did the right thing. Make a few covers multiple times for a company, get paid. Then sell the original art for a ton, get paid again. Interiors don't pay until you sell the originals.

X-men 123. Working hard to complete my Xmen. The great thing and also dangerous about my LCS is they do layaway.

I don't have a pic (it's in the attic) but big purchase for me... Tales of Suspense 40! It's probably a .5 or 1.0 (front cover is there, but detached) My LCS got a bunch of silver age stuff, including this one and a few other interesting ones. Very excited!

I bought Justice League International Omnibus 1, Justice League of America Omnibus 1, and Brave and Bold Omnibus 1 and 3. I would have completed the B&B set with 2, but it was sold out on the site I use to buy comics. I guess it's the most popular volume because it has Joker on the cover, as it features B&B #111. It's incredible the selling power of that clown.

Today I picked up two of the handful of non-Thomas Savage Sword issues I want: Savage Sword 108 and 165.
I also bought a few issues of a Tor mini on impulse. I assumed it was reprints, but now that I'm home , I see this was new material, back in 2008. I don't know anything about papa Kubert or Tor. I'm not fond of the art in these issues, but the story is really good.
Also found the third issue of a reprint of Bernie Wrightson material. This issue is from DC (But it also has another circular logo in the top right-right corner, with a shell that it says "Sea Gate". This is new to me), but I thought the other issue I have was from a smaller company. But I believe that the names of the series match. I can't find my other issue yet to compare.
Since I was on a run of luck with the Conan and Wrightson finds, I asked the proprietor about a couple other back issues I'm looking for. One from Detective and one from Batman. These would be early or maybe first appearances of Jason Todd as Robin, and the Joker is the bad guy. He thinks he has them in the back, and I'm checking with him next week. These are going to be pricey, but this guy does have fair prices.

Issues #1 and 2 feature Frazetta reprints, #3, Wrightson. There was also a 5 issue reprint series from Pacific entitled Berni Wrightson (no e) Master of the Macabre. They were both released in 1983 though. -M

In fact, my "want" list makes a point of noting that, so my searches on ebay and other e-stores are accurate. The DC/SeaGate issue in front of me also spells it "Berni". Looking inside the comic, the the spelling is still Berni inside the credits of the reprinted stories. Maybe he changed it to Bernie later? Not only were they both released in 1983, they both include "Macabre" in the title. It's like they're deliberately confusing me. Yes, me personally. The good news is that if this now equals a total of four of these very similar issues, so I can bag-and-board them back-to-back and not have one bag with just one comic in it. I hate odd-numbered runs.

Someone here posted an answer when I asked about it a couple of years back (maybe MDG) but I can't recall the specifics of it or if a reason was provided. -M

So when he was starting out professionally young artist Wrightson used the spelling without the "e" to avoid confusion with that other Bernie Wrightson.

So back form the Champion City spring show and done with D&D for the day. I brought a handful of books to trade/sell and turned 9 comics into 100 Bronze Age readers (mostly DC was and mystery books, Charlton horror and Gold Key adventure books). It's going to take me a bit to sort them and take pics. So that's a 100 new to me comics without an out of pocket expense except for the $3 to get in. I also picked up 3 things for $10 each-the last 2 Conan Treasury editions I needed and an unopened Frazetta calendar from 1998. The money for that came out of some RPG stuff I sold to a local over the last few months who I delivered the merch to and got paid for at the show. I also came home with a half of short box of stuff I had picked up from Jesse the con organizer via his FB auction group since the first of the year, all of which was gotten on trade credit, so I came home with a huge haul o comics and about $70 more than I had when I left. I like shows like that. I'll get some pics up either tonight or tomorrow some time.
the only negative about the show, I tried to use a want list on google docs via phone instead of a physical notebook for the first time, and someone set a pile o' comics near my phone that titled over. The phone was fine, but the motion highlighted and deleted about half my want list, so I need to go into google docs and recreate the whole blasted thing. Things like this remind why I am a pseudo-Luddite.
