Something I didn't expect to acquire in my lifetime, but someone in Rhode Island put me in my place. Getting these 70s British weeklies in NM is next to impossible but I got a neat little run including the copy I've wanted an upgraded copy of for ages....#231 would be one of the very first comics I pulled out of a box when I was 5....was attracted to the nice colours....will definitely be preserving this high-grade copy for years to come.

I have a bunch of those Super Spider-Man comics in a box from when I was a kid. I have a few of those issues you posted, including the Captain Britain/Spider-Man team-up. Mine are definitely NOT in as good condition as yours though; mine have all been very well read.

The older ones I had in the box (in storage in my place in Hertfordshire) were reasonably read too, all in VG, my uncle used to buy them, read them in bed, then fall asleep and roll over them...still wouldn't put anything in a bag and board to this day lol....

You probably already know this, but the slightly older issues of Super Spider-Man from the mid-70s were landscape format and they printed two pages of U.S. comics side by side on each page. A very strange format, but one that I have great affection for because of purely nostalgic reasons.

Went to day 2 of a two-day show with some friends today. Very nice, but the dealer's room was a little thin, though with several local creators. Pros attending included Don Simpson, Mike Gold, and Ken Wheaton. Came prepared to spend, but nothing to go nuts over. Dollar books... Dollar digests. Finally have all three of the Byron Preiss Fiction Illustrated digest-sized books... The People's Comic was my big purchase at $8. Everything else here was $1 (I already have the HELP! paperback, but couldn't leave it there... This was a shock--the Feiffer book was only $2, and the dust jacket is in much better shape than the copy I've had since the 70s. Our friend the Atom was produced by Disney as pro-atomic power propaganda and has some great illustrations; also $2. And $4 for the Mystery in Space collection with a nice Mitch O'Connell cover.

Taking me a bit to process today's haul. so I am going to do this in batches. Here's the first batch of pics, the Conan/Frazetta stuff and the first part of the dollar bin dives... The only things I spent more than a buck on all day were these three items-each was $10. I now have all 4 Conan treasuries. That's an unopened Frazetta calendar from 1998. Now for some dollar bin dives... Some Charlton horror... Dagar the Invincible... Occult Files of Doctor Spektor... G.I. Combat... some Marvel monsters/horror books... Our Fighting Forces featuring The Losers... a Gold Key/Whitman issues of Scooby Doo and the only Red Dress cover I got all day, an issues of Pep with Betty in a red dress Sgt. Rock... Some Gold Key Star Trek... Tragg and the Sky Gods... Unknown Soldier... and Weird War Tales... and that wraps up batch one. I'll get batch two up later, with more dollar bin dives and the stuff I got from the FB auction group. -M

Alright, batch two-this is the rest of the dollar bin dive... For those who waded through the first batch but thought, but where are the super-heroes-I need me some capes and tights, well there are some in this batch, even three Marvel super-hero books in there... So a couple of Adventure era Supergirl books that feature both Zatanna and the Phantom Stranger, plus an issue of Wanted a miscellany of horror and sci-fi form DC including a great gorilla cover... those Marvel heroes...a Ghost Rider off my list and a pair of Miller Daredevils-these were the two issues I bought off the rack as a kid after doing some odd jobs and were my intro into Miller's DD. The originals were long ago read coverless, but I couldn't resist these two in the dollar bin even though I don't normally buy DD back issues. DC Ghosts... House Of Mystery... House of Secrets... some Justice League-the three Retroactive books they did about 10 years ago and a 100 Page Giant collection Secrets of Haunted House.... a pair of Superboy 100 Page Giants-not a huge Superboy fan but its hard to turn down 100 Page Giants for a buck... Unexpected... and that wraps up the dollar bin dive haul. I'll do a third batch with the stuff I got from the FB auction in a bit... -M

Alrighty, batch 3. This is stuff I have been getting form the Gem City FB group auction dating back to December (the Christmas books). Instead of shipping, I usually pick up stuff from Jesse when I see him, and since it was his show today, and it was 5 minutes from my house, today was a good time to pick up my stuff from him. There's some modern stuff mixed in here as well, but the bulk of it qualifies as classic by our forum's definition. I may have posted some of these here before when I bought them, but I can't remember for certain, so if something looks familiar, that may be why. Everything here was $5 and under except the lot of paperbacks with the Sgt. Rock digest included, which was $12 for the lot. So first is a lot of Archie X-Mas specials, the whole lot was $3 I think. One features Veronica in a red dress, which is why I got the lot... a couple more holiday specials from X-Mas time, and a Burger King promo Scooby Doo comic... A couple of Marvel books for a buck each-another Miller era DD and a Busiek/Perez Avengers #1... Some Batman for $1 and $2, the Silver Age Batman is missing a cover chunk, but $2 is still a good price for that era... a couple of more recent Batman anthologies (recent being 10 years ago) with Dustin Nguyen covers... a run of the Harvey Classics Beetle Bailey comic... and a couple of dudes on motorcycles-Johnny Blaze and Indiana Jones... a couple of Charlton romance books for a buck each... and a trio of DC Romance, including a Beatles cover-the Beatles cover was $3 the others a buck each I knew I didn't have this What If featuring Conan, I forgot I picked it up form Jess already back in February when another copy went up last week I got both for a buck each... Death of Doctor Strange #1 (Walmart exclusive variant)-I'm not a big variant buyer, but I liked this cover and it was cheap and Doc is my favorite Marvel character... DOOM! and a couple for our gimmick cover thread... I had picked up a second copy of #1 for one of the players in my D&D group who is a huge Doom fan, but I gave it to him this afternoon before I took pics. one of the Gemstone EC reprints... a Goon mini-series featuring the Buzzard-including the Richard Corben variant for #1. And Goon Noir, an anthology series. Goon is a series I want to explore more, so when these sets came up for under $5 each I jumped on them. Some Metal Men goodness... and some Metamorpho go go check issues... that lot of paperbacks featuring vintage newspaper strips... and the Sgt. Rock Battle Tales digest... These were cheap $4 for the pair and I know there was a lot of spec on this issue. I dig the cover, there's a 2nd and 3rd print variant. I may hang on to these, I may trade them if I find the right offer. another variant and another gimmick book-a Cho sketch Sonja cover and the acetate image Superman book... and that's that. That's everything I came home from the show with today (though not all was purchased at the show today). I am not sure how much I'll be getting back issue wise for a bit. I am out of trade credit with Jesse, and my war chest is currently empty. I may be selling some more stuff off to replenish the chest, but I am not sure. The next local show is June, so I have some time to decide and build up the war chest if I decide to. -M

So these two beauties arrived far sooner than I thought (ordered on Sunday, shipped on Monday, arrived today). Been wanting to own some physical copies of Lee/Kirby Thor since Hoosier X turned me on to the series. An omni was considered, but seeing as how cumbersome they are, Epic Collections were a better option

By Crom @mrp , that's an amazing haul!!! I'm surprised that the Conan treasuries can still be found for a reasonable price, seeing as everything else is now stratospherically-priced.
Those Charlton and Dell books look like a whole lot of fun too.

Those Charlton and Dell books look like a whole lot of fun too. The dealer I got those treasuries from is one I buy from a lot. His high grade stuff is pricey and reflects current market trends, but his mid-to-low-grade stuff (unless it is high demand keys) he prices to move. I usually buy a bunch of stuff from him every show I go to. This time I only got the treasuries and the Frazetta calendar because was only there 2 hours and didn't have time to dig through his boxes like I normally do. He has a lot of treasuries that range from $5 to $20 for low to mid-grade. The higher grade stuff is usually $40+ but since I am ok with low to midgrade for my collection, I usually find the stuff I want reasonably priced. I just know I am not going to be getting a lot of keys, but I am ok with that. -M

Those epic collections are great. I have the first one. Just hoping that they reprint When Titans Clash and The Fall Of Asgard at some point. I've flirted with the idea of getting the first one, but it would probably only be for the Tales Of Asgard stories alone
