Picked up a copy of Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection, Volume 8, entitled “Man-Wolf at Midnight” yesterday, which covers issues 124 - 142. I have a handful of these as floppies, so the big draw was getting a bunch of expensive issues, including 129, for $40. I now own a copy of every ASM in one format or another from 1 - 400, so I can get down to the heavy work of actually reading my entire way through the rest of the series (I stopped at the end of the last Epic because there was too big a gap between 123 and where my floppies began). What’s your earliest floppy? #65, then nothing until 120, although I did own a 101 at one point in time. Early in my collecting, I focused on my floppy X-Men run, and have everything from 94 up, plus a handful of issues pre-reprints (including 10 and 13). Then I moved to Captain America and have every issue from 100 up, as well as some ToS issues, in floppies. ASM was something that I didn't try too hard on because I knew I would never be able to afford the entire run due to all of the high-priced issues in the first 50 or so.

Picked this up at my LCS. Continuing to build my Justice League Collection. This was the first Justice League I read after Crisis on Infinite Earths ended I love Justice League Detroit! I stopped getting it about #255 but I bought all the issues I missed a few years ago. I really can’t argue with people who don’t like it. But the run had its moments. I liked it well enough until the last few issues.

Funny you say this, because I started ASM around 305 or so and have actually read all the way up to 375 previously, so I’ve gotten through the worst of it already apparently.

To get trough the 90's you still have close to a hundred issues left (up to Straczynski). Some titles recovered earlier, with Heroes Return, but no one speaks positively about Mackie or Byrne, so I'd say you still have some nasty stuff ahead.

What about the clone saga that uses the other Spider-man titles to tell the story ? It becomes much more than 400 , I think.

I have Spectacular from 1 - 203, which is the last issue of that book tied to the Maximum Carnage crossover. I only own about 20 or so issues of Web, mostly ones that tie into the other ones (Kraven’s Last Hunt, Maximum Carnage).

Home from Gem City Comic Con. Got a bunch of stuff (some Kubert, red dress covers, Dell Uncle Scrooges, some Ghost Rider stuff, and a handful of books towards recreating my "childhood comic collection") but I am not sure I will have a chance to take pics for a bit. I might try later tonight, but tomorrow is our D&D day, so it might take until Monday to get processed and posted.

Ok so getting a start on processing the books... Here's the pile... So let's start with a red dress cover... not sure on the artist, GCD has no info. It's a beat copy, missing part of the back cover, but was only $5 and the red dress is only on the front cover... next, Vol. 9 of the Spirit Archives (one I didn't already have), which coincidentally also features a red dress cover... and next 5 Kubert covers form Our Army at War, ignore price tags, these were forma dealer (one of many) who featured boxes of Silver-Bronze books @$5 a pop regardless of price tag I'll process more later, but that's a start. -M

A week or so ago I posted a list of the comics I had as a kid (i.e. pre-high school) that I compiled over the years doing the 40/30/20 etc. Years Ago threads over my time here on the boards. Prepping for today's con, I thought it might be fun to see if I could assemble a few of those issues while digging around at the show. I did manage to get a few. Here's some I pulled out of dollar bins... and $2 bins... and my biggest splurge of the day (though I paid far less than sticker price) as I loved this book as a kid... -M

Continuing on, another red dress cover for the collection, this one out of the dollar bins... and some early Dell Uncle Scrooge (#4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 I think), all from a $5 Silver Age box and then I chipped away at my Ghost Rider list got a good deal on these 2 Spotlight issues form a dealer associate of mine... and accumulated these from various dealers over the course of the day... still more to process... -M

Last batch... working on completing the short run bronze Age Combat Kelly series from Marvel, alos form one of the $5 Silver/Bronze boxes... and then a few more dollar bin dives and $2 bin dives... I came home with some other books, but they were stuff I had previously purchased (and most of it has been posted here before) through the Gem City FB group. The first three I had arrange dot purchase, but the dealer, who has bought more from me than I have from him, simply said Happy Birthday when I went to settle up since it was my birthday last week... and then was the big ole pile 'books from the con's organizer Jesse, that I had gotten through the FB group but he was hand delivering at the show rather than shipping. Since I posted most individually before, I'll just do a pic of the pile... and that was the Gem City haul. There's a Jim and Dan show in 2 weeks I might go to if I sell off some stuff to replenish the war chest, but if not, this will be it for a while. -M
