and $2 bins... Despite the ludicrous comic book science in Avengers #210, I'm quite fond of it, as the most overlooked Avenger of all time gets a chance to shine. Also, Gene Colan art.

It might be a bit off-topic for the thread, but I'll roll the dice on comics I'm thinking of purchasing. Because of a special offer from a credit card, I suddenly have almost $150 in points I can use at Amazon, probably mostly on TPBs or HCs. One candidate is the Batman: Year Two Deluxe Edition.
Most of the other stuff I'm considering are Marvel Epic Collection. I don't think I've read any Byrne She-Hulk beyond the MCP story. Although Byrne learns for the first time partway through the book, it would be nice to buy She-Hulk: Breaking the Fourth Wall to get that first run all together. Maybe a New Defenders Epic Collection, like The End of All Songs, which has the last issues of the series. I've never read any Master of Kung Fu, but some folks rave about it, so I might try Fight Without Pity. Even though I have the first Essential Wolverine, talk at CCF about the Madripoor Knights Epic Collection has brough memories back of my twin brother Wolverine collection and wanting to read those stories in color.
I'm thinking of some Epic Collection that are either being published for the first time or republished after being out of print. The second Wolverine Epic (Back to Basics) doesn't have as much overlap with my Essential. Avengers: Acts of Vengeance collects an era I mostly haven't read. Iron Man: Return of the Machine, on the hand, has issues that I collected in a piecemeal fashion for a short time when they were coming out. I'm also wondered whether Power Man & Iron Fist: Hardball has good material or would be the last whimpers of a dying series.

That Wanted book and some 100 page DC books is where I was introduced to the Earth 2 heroes.

Bought on the 18th, shipped on the 18th, received on the 29th via Royal Mail (3 days for domestic delivery) + GSP (Sending). UK eBay seller: People seriously need to get their act together when grading. Even without taking them out of their bags, I could see these weren't NM. I inspected #296 and sure enough, FN at best.

Some Matt Wagner Grendel/Batman goodness back from CGC. I have the trades so getting these back was a nice surprise this weekend.

Always wondered about nearly-perfect comics, what kind of defect do they have that prevents them from obtaining a Mint condition grade? Did you notice them yourself?
I see some dented corners, but if that's the comic and not a reflection, then I'm happy about most of my shelve stuff.

The most egregious grading defect of most slabbed books is quite simply, the blind trust which is placed in the subjective opinion of an unknown grader to slap a label on a book after they apply an unpublished set of "grading standards".
Ooops. I let my personal opinion slip.
I am not disparaging DubipR 's purchase in particular (I like those books, and I'm glad he got the grades he got), but more specifically the "certified grading" business model "racket" in general. And yes, I also own graded books (see my avatar photo); some, but not many. My misgivings about graded books are more about the business model than the actual grade itself.
